Sword I made

Post by preiter »

I recently made a new sword:

Sword of Soul Devouring
Crappy sword with effect:
Soul Trap for 15 seconds
Bound Dagger for 13 seconds.

So the first time you hit your opponent you cast soul trap, and switch out the crap sword for a bound dagger. When the bound dagger wears off, you switch back to this sword automatically and it procs again restarting the process.

Now this wasn't my idea originally, but something I wanted to point out is the short durations I used. 15 seconds is pretty short, but it makes no difference. As soon as the effect wears off it just casts again.

The benefit of the short duration is:
It's only enchantment level 2 (I think) so it's easy to make.
It's only enchantment level 2, so I could use a really crappy sword to make it.
It only uses 1 charge (I used a pretty crappy soul gem).
If I'm killing things faster, I will end up trapping more of their souls.

So this is a really useful sword that is cheap and easy to make.

I think you're right: that's a pretty ingenious method of creating a cheap but useful sword. As long as you keep a handy supply of petty soul gems around (and they're easy to find), you'll be making good cash on sales, too.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
