That's the worst fight I have faced till now in BG2.
I left after an entire 14 hours devoted to playing it.
I am now completeing Spellhold .. and hope I can go back to that quest again when I have the opportunity and will be high enough mage-wise, fighter wise and equipment wise to handle that gleeful evil thingy.
There better be terrific xps related to that .. or else

If you do a search on Kangaxx you'll find heaps of strategy guides and hints. It's a hard fight, but definitely worth it. Good luck.

However in my honest opinion. Its more enjoyable when you defeat Kangaxx minus the helpful advice certain places.

I usually take him out in chapter two by using a Protection from Magic scroll and a fighter equipped with Flametongue. It only gets as hard as you allow it to.

Heres an interesting way of beating ol' Gaxx, if you have a thief in your party. First before doing anything move to the top right corner of the screen, and lay 3-4 traps (the more the merrier hehe). Now move up right beside his coffin, and lay about the same number. (it's really up to you, but put the majority in the top right corner) now when you give him his bones back, wait for him to materialize (make sure you pickpocket him, to get a second "ring of Gaxx" which rules by the way). Now as soon as he shows up he'll be killed from your first set of traps. Wait till roughly 3 seconds before his dialogue starts (might want to try it a few times to get the timing right) and use the ring of the ram on him. this will send him flying towards the top right of the screen right into your waiting traps. Hurray, you win , and with a bonus ring to boot!
