Game Crash

Post by ewv001 »

Morrowind is constantly crashing on me at the same exact spot. During character creation, after recieving my papers, everytime I click on the door to head outside to deliver the papers I will get thrown straight out to windows. This happens no matter what I try or don't try before hand. It's really frustrating because at this point in the game I don't even have the ability to save yet.
I am running the game above minimum specs:
Athlon 600 mHz
384 MB RAM
GeForce 2 GTS 32 MB DRR

I have tried everything I can think of (scan disk, de fragging, running WinDoctor, uninstalling and reinstalling the game, checking my video drivers) but now I'm at a total loss. If anyone has any suggestions or has experienced the same problem, let me know.

I have no answer to u're problem but I have a way in which might show you exactly what the problem is.

On u're Morrowind showcut right click and choose properties...then when properties at the end of the target box type after .exe...........

spacebar first then fullscreen=false

That will play Morrowind not in fullscreen and when it crashes it should display a windows box telling you why it's crashing. I had a HUGE problem with DS crashing on me and from the window promt I was at least able to narrow it down. Of course I and Microsoft techs couldn't determine the problem but they're at least giving me my $$$ back :D It was a pain but all in all it's great I had the problem and I'm getting the $$$ back cause it would've been shelved anyways. :D :p

Well, good luck and I hope you figure out the problem real fast cause I know how ANNOYING that gets... but know Morrowind is a GREAT game and will be well worth the wait

I'd suggest contacting Bethesda Softworks tech department. I'm sure they'd have the answer.

BTW, while we're talking about problems is anyone playing the dwarf MOD and if so are you getting stuck in all the non-door arched openings?

I LUV this character and I don't want to give him up, but I want to be able to walk everywhere. It's quite funny though cause I'm only at like crotch size and I have a huge hammer.
I will get it enchanted and can it the NUTCRACKER

Well, it seems to me that 600 MHz seems a little low to run it. that may be the issue.

Issue Resolved

Actually, I guess it turned out to be my video drivers after all. I reloaded the detonator XP drivers fresh from nVidia's website and that solved everything. It just really threw me when it would let me load the game and play it just a little before crashing at the same spot every time. Thanks for all your advice, though.

I had the exact same problem ewv001.
