Tashia installation problems
I decided to install the Tashia mod. Made sure I unzipped it into the SOA directory with Use Folder Names checked, and clicked on the SETUP_TASHIA executable. I get a "failure to find DIALOG.TLK" DOS window. The mod creator's website only gives Use Folder Names as a solution, but that's not the problem, in my case. Anybody have any other words of help to offer?

Hi Fable, the same error message applies to all the mods if you try to unzip the file to anywhere but the main BG2 directory. I know it sounds lame (as you seem to know what you're talking about), but are you sure you're not specifying the override folder or any other folders *within* the root BG2 directory?
The only other thing I can think of, is that you say you're unzipping it into the SoA directory. Does this mean you don't have ToB installed? ToB is required for the Tashia mod, IIRC...

I wish I could say you're right, but--I definitely installed Tashia in the root BG2-SoA directory. (The next higher directory is for Black Isle. I believe ToB installs into that same directory; I know I so installed it, and when I click on ye olde launching icon, it brings up the opening menu for ToB. Thanks for trying, in any case.

So in the SoA directory you have the following:
- Tashia (folder)
- Tashia-Setup.exe - this is the file you're running
- Tashia ReadMe v###.txt
- Tashia.tp2
If that is so, then I'm not too sure what the problem could be. You can check to see if there is a dialog.tlk file in that directory - it should be there, or else you won't have any text in your game.

Another stupid question:
are you sure it's not a backup of the dialog file?
Something like dialog.old?
Happened to me once, messing with the mods, I lost the original....
Try download it again, unzip in another dir, and place the files and directories manually!
If this doesn't work, I fear you should install everything again
I have the Mods in this order and all works fine:
-ToB
-ToB-patch
-Baldurdash
-Ascension
-Solaufein
-Tashia
-Kelsey
If you have Ascension, you could backtrack to the point you have only Ascension installed, and try replacing the dialog with the one that comes with the NON-Weidu release of the mod(here )
In any case, Tashia is worth the trouble!

Don't remember what caused me to have a backup of the file.
If your extension is correct (dialog.tlk), maybe the file is
corrupted, so I suggest a clean re-install of all the mods.
Let me explain better:
When I installed the first version of Ascension,
the dialog file was simply replaced (thus turning my game, which
was in ITALIAN, to a full ENGLISH version).
While the Weidu Mods ADD strings to the existing dialog file, so
to install the new WEIDU version of Ascension, I had a big problem!
I didn't want a mixed-language-game, but installing the new version
needed the old dialog file which I had only in italian.
So I installed Weidu Ascension over that, and then replaced the resulting
dialog file (mixed-language at this point) with the full version that came
with the NON-WEIDU realese of Ascension(full english).
If you can do the same (in your case, backtrack to the point you have only
Ascension, then replace the file) you are SURE to start with a working dialog
file, without re-installing the whole game.
From here, install carefully in order the new mods.
Or maybe you have simply a corrupted executable of Tashia!
Try downloading it again!
Hope this helps!

The only thing I can think of is that somehow, Ascension is causing problems. Regardless, I think I'll save my save directory, uninstall, then just reinstall SoA, ToB, the fixes, and throw in Kelsey and Tashia; then, maybe I'll put Balderdash's fixes on top, if everything else works. (I even contacted the mod's author, who went beyond the call of duty in trying to help.) Thanks in any case, for the help.
EDIT: It looks like I won't have to do all this. Per the mod author's suggestion, I tried installing from the DOS commandline, and it worked.

Thanks for all the help, guys. I was having the same problem as Fable, or so I thought, until I realized I hadn't moved the Tashia-setup.exe file into the SoA directory
. Everything should be hunky-dory now.
