Starting Proficiencies

Post by Arcegetrix »

Hey, does anyone know if there is a listing somewhere of all of the NPC's starting weapon proficiencies?

Also, at what levels do characters gain new weapon proficiencies?

I'm trying to create a new party around a katana dual-weilding kensai/mage (dramatically original Image ), and I want to pick NPC who will be able to weild the various coolest weapons well (Crom Faeyr, Carsomyr, Impaler Spear, Dragon's Breath, etc...)

Fighter gains new slots at level 3, 6, 9, 12, 15 and 18. The same for Paladins and Rangers (except for level 18 which they can't get because they cap at level 17).

Clerics and thieves gains new slots at level 4, 8, 12, 16, 20.

Mages gains new slots at level 6 and 12.

The best NPCs for the weapons you mentioned are :
- Crom Faeyr : either Viconia or Anomen
- Carsomyr : only Keldorn
- Impaler Spear : Valygar
- Dragon's Breath : none have prof. in halberd

For your information here is the starting prof of some npcs :
- Edwin : staff and dagger
- Jan : staff, crossbow, short sword
- Viconia : mace, sling
- Mazzy : short bow and short sword
- Imoen : staff, short bow, short sword
- Aerie : mace, staff, sling
- Jaheira : club, scimitar, sling, staff
- Minsc : mace, 2-h sword, long bow
- Korgan : axe, mace
- Valygar : katana, spear, long bow

I don't know for Keldorn, Cernd and Nalia.

Keldorn knows two-handed sword, longsword, and crossbow.

I THINK Nalia knows dagger and quarterstaff...I KNOW she can use shortbows and shortswords.

Cernd: never used him, but since he already has a quarterstaff, I assume he at least knows how to use it....
