Solo Stories - got one to share?

Post by Lost One »

Hi, I've recently started a solo with a swashbuckler/mage character, and I've begun to realize how much more fun and difficult the game can get. I initially played a party of six characters, then as it got too crowded for my taste I went down to a party of four - and then as it still hasn't suited me (y´know with all my NPCs fighting each other or moaning about simple gibberling killing) I've decided to solo.
It seems a lot of fun, but I'm wondering as to how you can make it to the end, so I'd appreciate anyone's solo stories (be they victorious or tragic).
PS: Does anyone have any strategies for my character? e.g.how the hell do I kill a group of golems or any other strong magic-resistant creature?

I have started several solo games - finished one. The first time through was with a cleric/mage - spells galore. I have also soloed with a pure class assasin, and a Fighter/Mage/Thief.

I only finished the game with the cleric/mage - the others I got bored with somewhere in the underdark. The problem with soloing is that it actually becomes fairly easy as you go up in levels - also the more times you go through the game the more you know exactly when and where to expect enemies and traps. You also know all the special strategies for dealing with them.

After soloing I find it hard to play with a large party - I can't resist the urge to micro-manage all the NPCs and it really slows down the game for me.

There are several good threads on soloing - do a search and take a look - there is also a solo strategy section on the gamebanshee site :) :)

I solo'd a assassin, but not halfway. Also i solo'd a lvl16 sorceror, my previous char.It was pretty fun having everyone underestiamte u and then fell to my mighty dragon's breath.
Spoiler

When i solo'd my assassin i found that in the planar prison going invisible has no point. Both the warden and the master of thralls instantly see u, so u can't sneak up.And there are some guys u can't backstab, but that shouldn't be a problem for u.Remeber u can disarm traps while being invisible, but don't open locks.

Ok, thx for the tips.

You know, I was soloing with my character just yesterday, and I just found out a real cheesy way to level, which means that soloing is going to be a lot easier for me.

When I got my thief skills, I started to steal scrolls and then scribing them (using 2 potions of genius and master thievery to guarantee success) and then since I've got TOB installed, I realized I could erase the spells I learnt and re-learn them by stealing more of the same scrolls! The XP I've earned has been huge, and there's still a ton more scrolls to learn. With only having done the Circus Tent & Copper Coronet quest, I reckon I can get myself to lv.15 by the time all the scrolls have been used up!
