Only certain shrines give quests. Six of them, to be precise (well, seven -- but the seventh isn't really a shrine). All of them (except the seventh work the same way, just click on the statue if you can and you'll be offered the quest.

I don't honestly recall -where- the proper shrine to Malacath is offhand. If you're in the right one, though, when you're looking at the statue (and only parts of the statue seem to be "active", I generally have luck near the kneecaps) a text box will appear over it and say 'Shrine of So-and-so'. Then just click on it to activate it.

The helm you're looking for is the helm of Oeryn Bearclaw, one of the two best helms in the game. The other really good one -- though not as good -- is the Mask of Clavicus Vile.

i think it was "sanctus shrine"
which is on a island just southwest of vas

the name of the helm was "helm of Oeryn Bearclaw"

u ll have to kill a "false hero"..just ask for him in Vivec.. they will say that he s around gnar mok(not 100% sure), just go there ask around, find and kill him :)

More Shrines

I have found 2 shrines so far. The one to Azura (which is on the map that comes with the game, and not too hard to find...) Azura gives you a special soul gem.

I just found the shrine of Sheogorath under St-Delyn (in the canalworks? anyway, at the bottom-most level of St-Delyn in Vivec.) I must say the gods do give interesting quests. I will proceed to finish this quest after my pesky university graduation ceremony tonight...

I would appreciate more info/hints on where to find the other god shrines.

The shrine of Malacath, where you get the bearclaw helm, is on an island west of Dagon Fel. If you have the map that came with the game, it's the same long, narrow island just off the north coast that has Ald Redaynia on it. However, the shrine is on the east coast of this island (Ald Redaynia is on the west coast). You will have to go to Vivec, then track someone to Gnaar Mok, kill him and his goons, and return to the shrine (bringing mark/recall and divine/almsivi intervention with you will make this much quicker!).
