I don't know the CLUA, but from what I gather, killing the mage should not actually matter in terms of plot.

all i remember from that one was killing some mage in a small room then napping a jewel from a little church-type room... then killing a wyvern, a big daddy monster, and the warden
oh yeah, one time i decided just to run past the warden because it was kinda hard to kill him, and the people in the prison transported me out and the qust was completed, but i loaded and killed the warden for the exp he gave

Mekrath is the focus of two distinct quests. 1) If you work for Mekrath and retrieve his mirror for him, he will give you his personal slave as a reward. He leaves, and you don't get the chance to kill him or loot his corpse. 2) If you work for Raelis Shai of the Sigil Troupe and rescue Haer'Dalis (who is Mekrath's slave), you can kill Mekrath and loot his corpse, but you probably can't complete the mirror quest. In either case, Haer'Dalis can join your party and you can have some fun with the Sigil Troupe.
You can't get the gem unless you talk to Haer'Dalis, who tells you where to find it. He should be standing next to the spiral staircase, and you can't miss him. If he's not there, check the storeroom west of the chapel. If you talked to him and turned him away, perhaps he took the gem with him, or perhaps you need to speak to Raelis Shai before you can retrieve it. I sure hope you didn't miss out on the quest they have to offer you.
Actually, those two are the same quest - well almost the same. When you talk to Raelis, she will ask you to free Haer'Dalis. You then have two options - either kill the wizard that's holding Haer'Dalis, or retrieve the mirror in exchange for Haer'Dalis.Originally posted by VonDondu

About the hostile thing, I not too sure if CLUA will help, but you can try if you want to: CLUAConsole:CreateCreature("mekrat").

That's not the way it works. If you tell Raelis that you will rescue Haer'Dalis ("RaelisJob"=1), then you can't get the mirror quest from Mekrath; you either have to fight him or leave. Mekrath will give you the mirror quest only if you stumble upon his lair before you talk to Raelis or if you refuse to rescue Haer'Dalis ("RaelisJob"=0). IMHO, that makes them mutually exclusive quests.
