weird lvlup - why?

Post by Thrar »

this did not happen to me, i read the question on another forum. i got no idea about what patches that guy has, i suppose none as he seems quite a n00b.

near beginning of the game, irenicus prison. PC is mage (no kit). both the PC and imoen get the lvlup to lvl9 while still in prison.
the PC gets 1 lvl5 spell, as it should b.
imoen gets one of lvl1-4, and 2 lvl5 spells!
before, both (on lvl8) had the same # of spells, except a lvl2 spell from meta spell amulet, now immie has one more of any level.
as if immie had for some reason specialist bonuses applied...but why??

I the character had a lower int. rating that Imoen it would affect the number of spells he gained per level.

Like some of the other characters (including your own), Imoen is special. She gets one extra spell per level. Go, Imoen! :)

Other NPCs are special, too. For example, Aerie is a Cleric/Mage, even though that multiclass is denied to elves. Haer'Dalis has extra proficiency points. Minsc not only has Boo, he also has a special ability (Berserker Rage). I'm not certain, but I think Yoshimo has extra thieving skill points. Edwin has an amulet that gives him two extra spells per level. Nalia has a special ring. Keldorn and Valygar have their own special armor. Jan has his own special equipment. Anomen has a special shield, and he is dualled to a Cleric even though he doesn't have enough Wisdom to qualify. Mazzy has special innate abilities (Strength, Invoke Courage, and I think a couple of others). If you want to get really technical, Viconia should lose her natural magic resistance after prolonged exposure to sunlight, but she doesn't, so that makes her special. The new NPC in Throne of Bhaal (no spoilers here) has a special ability that will blow your mind. And the main character gets all sorts of special powers as the game progresses. I for one have no complaints about any of it.

IIRC, this is actually a bug that is fixed by the official patch or by installing ToB.

i don't think korgan has any special things but Jahiera has harper call and also gets some thing special after a while
Ancient times they had no statistics so they had to fall back on lies

"I'm invinceable"
"your a loony"

I'd rather be rich than stupid.

If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason.

yes, korgan gets his armor and his sword
edwin(a) gets his/her amulet which gives extra spells, and then of course there's the nether scroll

You're thinking of Keldorn, he get's the armor and sword. I think Korgan is just a very good tank.
