Fantastic Game, but

Post by fishhead »

where the hell are all the children, fat, medium, lanky and short ppl? I want to see ppl characters sitting down or lying down or talking to one another.

I mean I realize that the modeling for clothing and armor was a factor in time and money, but it could have been easily fixed I feel. Here is how.

1. Have the wandering NPC's when close to a chair, sit down or a bed lay down after an preset timer leave the chair and continue to walk around. There is already a model for laying down(dead) and the sneak position is practically a sitting down one.

2. Wandering NPC's when close to another NPC face them and exchange a few canned expressions then walk away. They do it to us so why not each other?

3. Children could have been done with a couple of models. Create the models with clothes on and give them no inventory and no dialogue. Maybe a few choice taunts or dialogs, but with the same disposition as the passive herd guars.

I don't think anything I have mentioned here is outrageous, in fact I feel they should have been built in. Am I crazy or wouldn't these simple things turn Morrowind into a more "livelier" environment. YES YES I know, why don't I use the editor and do it myself, but man what a difference these things would have made to the game environment.

well the part that was left out of the story line is...

the blight storms killed all the children and made everyone sterile!
also they are stiff jointed insomniacs :)

Children would be nice. I haven't been able to brutally murder children since Fallout II :)

Oh, the reason why no one ever sleeps is explained in-game. Some of the dialogue (rumors, secrets) from different folks includes an explanation that no one spends much time sleeping anymore because of the horrible bad dreams Red Mountain is causing.

Yeah, it's weak, I know. But at least they tried to explain it.

Haha.

I knew I was going to love fallout from the very beginning, where those people were brutally mowed down by a guy in heavy mech-gear and a minigun.

Yay...

Yeah, but just wondering how plausible you guys think my request for realism is? I have not played with the editor, but I figured if anyone has any experience than maybe a guesstimate would be in order.

The Victorians were known to be of the opinion that children "should be seen and not heard". Perhaps it's cultural in Morrowind for children to be neither seen nor heard. :)

Which suits me just fine.
I hate kids.

Man, I'm crushed.

You just shattered all my dearly-held beliefs regarding cartoon cereal icons...

...you ARE for kids ;)

I agree with Fishhead that the game needs more 'life' and a more natural feel, however. Morrowind might be the next best thing to an MMORPG...but those kinda suck anyway :p .

I think I read somewhere:

Children are NOT included due to Morrowind's global market - not all laws pertaining to child killings, depicting of child murder, etc are the same in each country where the Morrowind will be sold.
In order to alleviate the potential for lawsuits, Children were purposefully left out of the game.
Not all countries share the same laws as the Bethesda's country (USA) which produced this game.

P.S. It would be nice to see NPCs wake in the morning, sleep in the evenings and do more than just wander aimlessly around during the day

No Children....

At least from the elven standpoint is adresses in one of the "Histories" books. {reduced procreation, long gestation, low birth rate, longevity, .......Blah, Blah, Blah.........

But at least they tried to address it.

"realistically" speaking shouldn't camp fires go out after the campers are killed?
Everytime i walk pass one of those raging fires i would wonder who on earth kept the fire going...

But morrowind is truly a very great game.

though I wouldn't mind children running around or murdering one of those ordinators while they are sleeping hahahaha.

I find the only major flaw in the game is: Cliff racers. Too many of them. Now I hate them more than I hate Prince, or the artist formally known as Prince, whatever. ARGH! Cliff racers wouldnt be that bad if there werent billions of them around EVERY corner of EVERY mountain.

I think the game is good and I don't miss murdering children (SICK!!!). Thing that annoys me even more than pestering cliff racers and some boring repetetive quests is the Journal . I hate this journal. The idea is that there are "notes" and so-called "topics" with highlighted words which should help you navigate the journal. Well, you still have to remember all weird names and locations of your numerous employers if you are in a habit of getting several quests at the same time (as I am). Why couldn't it always be something like " XX of the Balmora Temple asked me to..." Even "work", "duties", "orders" etc. don't help a lot.
May you find me worthy of your attention, outlander.

What about guars? There are a few people that have those things as pets. And nix hounds too, they are in cages in certain bandit underground caverns, I think those are also pets.

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

about the porn...there are mods out now...the killing children, you people should be locked up. Killing people when they sleep, that I wish was possible. Of even when theyre sitting, sneak up and hack em...it would make things so much easier, wait till night and kill kill kill...but then there would have to be a chance that they could wake up....hell, no sleeping saved bethesda a lot of work...
