Duel classing from Kensai to Thief

Post by bdouble013 »

OK so I have a Kensai and now I want to duel class into a thief. When I duel class it shows me as a fighter and I loose all my weapon profiencies (not to mention my armor class goes up 2), yet I still can't wear armor. Is that normal?

Yeah it sucks, Kensai/xxxxx dual classes keep the 'No Armor' limitation of the Kensai. The 2 points of AC will come back once your thief level surpasses your Kensai. As for it saying you're a "Fighter" that's just normal.

This is really why alot of people prefer other dual-classes with the Kensai over the Thief. The advantages gained from going to thief is really too small. All you're really getting is the backstab, which, if you were a Kensai, probably does less damage in the same amount of time than a pure Kensai.

You have to consider the fact that you need to either keep quaffing invis potions or keep running around corners to use hide. Sending in a dual wielding kensai with 7/2 hits per round is more sensible, and less micro-management.

It's a bad idea until you get to ToB anyway. Kensai in armour? Yes please.
