Solo?!?

Post by Fallowmar »

I was just wondering if anyone has tried to solo the game ie, a party of 1. I am currently trying it but there are some points that are extremely hard going. Anyways, just seeing if it is possible, thanks.

Some people try it ,including me, and a few did it i think. I managed to finish a couple dungeons myself but i didn't finished it but because i stopped playing it.

It is possible but you just have to get lucky a couple of times at the start in order to advance a few levels.

The easiest way to solo is to start the game with 2 characters, since soloing from the begining it often constant load or pure luck, recruiting another character at the start will save a large amount of time and make things easier for the first levels. The XP is far from enough for only one character anyway.

I am trying Solo

Actually a couple days ago I decided to try soloing the game, I beat it with a full 6 group months ago so I decided since I have nothing better to do, why not solo..I tried a fighter and he just couldn't do crap, then I tried a thief and never got passed the first 2 orc fight..now I am using a barbarian and he works really well. I was wondering though..with the whole EXP thing..do you get more xps solo, or does it not matter? like if something gives 6 exps and you have a group of 6, do each get 1, and if just a group of 1 does he get the full 6?

You can try Paladin/Cleric or Paladin/Monk if you like, I've played it with a Paladin/Monk, started with Paladin then multi to Monk. Turning undead in this game is maybe one the best weapons you have since the game is full of them. :)
As for the XP since you are alone you get all the XP and after a few levels you will level up very fast.

Well, I went for like 6 levels in barbarian and then grabbed a level in thief just incase..then I am going back to barb..I am gonna max out my barb, and then prolly gonna keep on with either thief..or I may go ranger..I do wish I could do Monk though, there are so many good monk items that you don't even need to wear to use..and there are some you do, some make you do like double or triple damage no matter what you fight, some give attributes like +2 wisdom..and just..if you are gonna solo using a fighter type..make sure you can get atleast 1 level in monk..so be some lawful alignment..I went Chaotic Neutral myself..that's how I play my PnP characters, and that's how I did this game.

I soloed the game as a Paladin/Monk, but only made it about 3/4 the way through before the game crapped out on me and my character went invisible. That's when I stopped playing the damn game all together. But here's what I did Start of as a heavily armoured Paladin then once you get Turn Undead at level 3 go to a 3/3 Paladin/Monk and alternate levels from there. As far as stats go the only one I remember for sure was Cha being 14 for the +2 to all my saves, which when added to a Monks naturally high saves made me immune to a lot of stuff. If you're gonna wear armour I suggest sticking with armour that doesn't remove your Dex modifier. Ringmail worked pretty good, but I eventually went armourless. I remember Con and Str being +1 I think and Wis and Dex being +2 but I'm really not sure. Like I said the only one I remember for sure whas the Cha. Anyway, after the first floor of the first dungeon it was basically a walk in the park after you get the Massive Club or whatever it's called.
