what a idiot i was!!(spoiler)

Post by evelbruce »

OK so I'm getting ready to do the twisted rune, and i remember reading in a few threads that it's slightly cheesy to memorize spells based on who you're fighting next and also to prepare defensive spells when you really shouldn't know what's next. so i decide just to run in there and do my best. On my first try I killed everything, hardly anybody was hurt except for Amonen who died.
then realizing i didn't have resurrection memorized, i reloaded because you can't rest there. then after preparing all my spells I went back. I have been completely annihilated 3 times since then. It then occured to me that i have a Rod of resurrection that I could have brought Amonen back with on my first try!!! Ain't I stupid. Has anybody else done anything dumb like that before?

Ha ha! **points finger and laughs**

Just kidding! I've NEVER had Anomen die in combat, and he's my front-line fighter!

It's not cheesy to come with prepared spells, either! It just means that you're covered and don't have to worry about being slaughtered constantly. ;) It's a technique many gamers use, and it makes things go smoothly.

I tried the twisted rune...I died four time before finally giving up. :D That's like, one of the toughest battles in the game.

Well, I once made the mistake of having Edwin talk to Salvanas in the Copper Coronet after he transcribed his, er... her Nether Scroll.

What happened next could only be described as the massacre at the Copper Coronet, since I forgot to turn the party AI off.

Oops! :)

Those things happen every now and then. However, you do know that there is no rush to raise a dead NPC, I presume? You could have left the area, gone to CC or elsewhere to rest and memorize your spells, then raised him.

I thought ( probably in error) that since this was another plane or world that once I left it I wouldn't be able to return, like the astral prison. Was I wrong?

It IS another plane, actually. But even when a character dies, unless he gets chunked, you can theoretically carry the body indefinitely. So you could still take Anomen back to a temple or to an in to revive.

No, that is correct, but your dead party members go with you wherever you go. Simply make sure to take care of all of their equipement before leaving. The body comes with you automaticly (don't ask!) so there is no need to pick it up.

Happens to the best of us, Bruce, believe me... :D

SPOILERS
.
.
.
.
I was doing Xzar's quest for the Harper Hold when I sent my part in and went directly upstairs where I was slaughtered by the Spectral Harpists...once...twice...three times before I realized that I had forgotten to go get the Harper Amulet.

Then, in the Underdark, I was talking to Pheare who told me to go kill Sola-can't-spell-his-name. Then I told her "I'd rather not kill him, but I have no choice...". Bad move. She got mad, attacked me, I set the city hostile and my game was over.  :o

I had CLUAd in one of Drizzt's Scimitars for Jaheira to use during my game. When I met Drizzt I forgot all about the scimitar and when he saw it he became quite angry...that one took some fast-talking to explain. :o

I attacked Lonk the Sane in Spellhold. I underestimated his power, he wore me out to the point where I was almost dead (little rat was tough!) and then I was instantly teleported to the fight with Irenecus. No time to heal up!

So you see, I have messed up many times in my game. Can't say I've ever had a shortage of revival spells (Hell, I've got Jaheira's Harper Call, Anomen's Raise Dead, Ressurection and Mass Raise Dead (In ToB), plus I've got Viconia who has all of those spells as well.) So I don't think I've ever been in a position where Icouldn't revive my dead beer-buddies on the spot. ;)

Well I finally beat it. (spoiler)

after reading several stategies,i death fogged Shang till he was Injured. had Nalia cast 5 skull traps that all but killed the beholder, then cast all types of remove, pierce magic spell that i have at Shang, then basically my PC, Keldorn, Minsc, and Amonen beat the crap out of Rev. , and the vamp, while Aerie whupped Shang with the FOA. Layenne was a joke, although she didn't gate in the demon this time, pity, .

I do have a question though, I 've read about the exp. cap, what is it again, is there a screen that shows your partie's total or do you have to add them all up? Also when I reach it, can i kick one guy out to allow myself to get more exp.?

The xp cap for SoA is just under 3 million. Each one of your characters can reach it, it isn't a cap on total experience within the group.

Edit; congratulations on beating the Twisted Rune!

I found the Twisted Rune to be EASY!!

I had Valygar Hide in Shadows to scout the room but I had him run from the Beholder...Which didn't follow him.

The fighter and vampire were slaghtered by me (berserker),Valygar, and Anomen as Kelsey, Nalia, and Jan buff us up.

Two minor sequencers of Magic Missle and a Magor Sequencer of Flame Arrow killed the Beholder instantly.

The chick(wizard) started with the demon but one of my normal buff-ups in Protection from Evil 10' Radius :)
Her meteor swarm was the only serious damage I took (and was it) but she targeted Jan at the entrence so everyone just ran until me, Valygar (invisible), and Anomen sorrounded her and Jan used his glasses to revial her and instantly she took over 100 damage total. :)
Real commanders display their battle skill on the front lines.

I've got something to say to you dwarven bigots: "Harglukkin phuul naubol jhal waela rothen ulu ussa!"

He died a natural death as a dagger in the chest naturally kills you.
