Portrait of Male Half-Elf

Post by Astafas »

I've been messing around with Photoshop for a couple of hours (God it's hard!). I modified one of the BG1 portraits, a Male Human Paladin (also known as Mr Shiny and Lord Brilliance since a discussion on this board a long time ago) into a Half-Elf. In case any of you are interested, I post the portrait here (medium and small size), as well as the original portrait, should you not have seen it before. All feedback is welcome, of course. And should you by chance know of an internet guide to Photoshop 6, don't hesitate to send me a PM.

Fun, looks like it's ment that way.
Don't know if it's worth all the hours you said you put in to it, but still,
good work

Now if you please could change Nalia in a half-orc, i would be realy thankfull.
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

You may wanna try practicing with Photoshop for a while onger, Astafas. ;) :D

Just kidding. I think it looks great, though the coloration is a bit...yellow. However, it is an excellent job on a pre-made portrai and much better than I could have ever done myself. :)

Yes, I'd like to see Nalia as a half-orc as well...Hmm...I could do that as my next art project... :D

EDIT: Oh, I see. He was yellow before you started working on him... :D In that case, great job!

Yeah, I actually haven't changed the colors at all but only enlarged the portrait and worked with the "liquidify". But I will practise longer of course, this was just my first try. I still have to learn how to change colors, cut and paste armors from the other portraits and much more. Nalia as a Half-Orc? I think that will have to wait a bit... :D

Wish you had done that sooner, Astafas... it's really good work. I actually used the same original portrait for my BGI half-elven fighter. I modified it with Photo Editor and Paint to draw a scar across his left cheek and put the ToB skull as a crest on his armour. Wish I had had your portrait to begin with...

Nice job Astafas. PS6 comes with guide built in. However the best way to utilize it fully is like you've already been doing -- experimentation and slogging through it. Its a vastly complicated and powerful tool, so just try and focus on one bit of it at a time.

It does? That's great! Wonder how long it would have taken me to figure that out...

I've modified the same portrait once more. This time I've made the elven traits show more clearly (more delicate and with larger more almondshaped eyes) as well as rearranged the armor so it hangs more straight. What do you think?

he now looks like the guy that hangs around my local play park!

Haha, good point Astafas.
Now I like it better... He will suit my Half-elven Berserker Rhodry ap Devaberiel...Actually could you make his hair black? Then it would be perfect!
