I already finished the puzzle and I've got all the artifacts. When I go to the door it says I need a god to open it. Any clues out there????

Does that mean that you have assembled the Avatar, and the gate is still locked?

take all the little pieces...moonblade, etc. to the temple and put them on the altar
I would be a serial killer if i didn't have such a strong distaste for manual labor

Read your journal to find out where to summon him (it?). Once you summon the avatar (bring the three quest items to the temple?), he will tell you that the doors have been opened and his minions are clearing the city.
