two questions for chapter 2 - jaheer quest and wanev quest

Post by leeman_s »

The one lady, jaheer or jaheel or something wants me to find her kid or some little boy. Does anybody know where to go to get the boy? And in the cave in the south road area, there is a door in there that i can't unlock. Is this where the boy is? If so, how do I unlock it?

I talked to the troll, and that's when i figured out about wanev. I went to his cottage, but couldn't find him there. How do I start this quest?

1. If it's anything to do with a kid named Neva, it's not really a quest. It's actually a cult trap. But they are next to the standing stones one the south road. You'll just get attacked as soon as you see them. Kill them and one of them should have a note that explains this.

2. In the inn where you find the merchant selling anti lycanthrope stuff, there is also an elf, dressed in black and with white hair. His name should be snake. He will give you a quest to retrieve 3 gems for him. The wizard has on the gems. In the wizard's house, you will find a way to open a portal to hidden room where you can get a wardstone needed to open the from gate, otherwise you have to use a side "cave" entrance.

For Wanev, all you really need to do is go in the side door and start stabbing things. You can talk to the elf later (hint: warp to temple, then go to inn, then warp back, and talk to Wanev). You don't really need to go to his house iirc.

Is it just me or do the folks over at Bioware have a thing for reusing names? For instance Wanev. He appears in NwN, he appeared in Icewind Dale and I seem to remember a Wanev in BG.
It is best to be thought a fool and stay silent, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Maybe it's a little thing for the people who threw away parts of their lives to their games to feel good about? :P

Wanev Spoiler

<Thought this was kinda neat>
In Wanev's cottage, you find a journal in his bedchambers where he blithers on about some room and mixing the right combination of reagents. Wanev's Cookbook, I believe.

Well, I happen to notice that 2 of the reagents he mentioned - skeleton knuckles, & a fire beetle belly were in his storage room as set items (i.e. not random treasure). The only item I was missing was some sort of Sload's tongue. Oddly enough, I came upon a Sload's tongue soon after.
I went back to Wanev's kitchen (all the way through his cottage and then up some stairs) and mixed the items in a lit brazier.
Lo and behold, a portal appears.
I scampered through the portal & found myself in a side room which had a chest containing a wardstone for his tower :-)
