Where/what are these items?

Post by Yuusuke »

First, let me say, it's good to be back after a one-year hiatus from BG2, still a kick ass game.

On my most recent trip I found an item I've never found on my previous games before, a wyvern head. Anyone know what to do with this thing? I tried taking it to Cromwell, thinking maybe he can make a cool super-secret helmet or something out of it, but he pretty much refused to acknowledge it's existence.

Also, after all this time, has anyone been able to find out what those empty potion bottles that you get from Guarded Compound are for? Someone linked it to the Twisted Rune in a post last year saying that Shanglar refers to Yoshi (one of the guys in the guarded compound) if you meet certain reaction criterias but I've gone through the game a few times now and I've never got him to mention anything about Yoshi.

Lastly, anyone ever been able to find an imprisonment scroll? I've gone through the game with my mae twice already and he has every spell available to him except that one, it's driving me nuts!

Where did you find the wyvern head? I've never heard of that before.

I've been playing BG2 on and off since it came out, and never found a use for the empty potion bottles. I've also never seen anything on this board about it, and a LOT of tiny odds 'n' ends are covered here.

I'm guessing it is part of an unfinished quest like others here have suggested, since the guarded compound and the Twisted Rune do seem to be somewhat linked together.

Then again, look at what happened with the pantaloons...

The wyvern heads are just leftovers from BGI - you may be able to sell them for cash.

I've never found a use for the empty potion bottles. Baldurdash has a patch that restores the Slave Lord/Twisted Rune plot.
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

i suppose you can find Wyvern heads on any summoned wyvern, but I got this particular one from a summoned wyvern called by Tolgerias's mage buddy in the Planar Sphere.

And about those patches, those aren't official are they? I really don't feel comfortable about install third party trainers, bug fixes, and the like. But damn, I'm dying to find out more about the Twisted Rune/Slaver connection...ack.

But it looks like a no-go on the Imprisonment Scroll? Has anyone ever even seen one? I mean, even if you don't remember where/how you got it.

Neb's Head you take to the guberment building. Give it to the chick with the sexy voice (sorry can't recall name) and you'll get some exp for it.

Well, those patches aren't "officially" official. However, the guy who puts them together has had his stuff used by Bioware for bugfixes (most notably the Jaheira romance fix on the last TOB patch).
The story one that is being referred to was put up, because one of the BG2 designers mentioned some of how that quest was supposed to go.
(SPOILER)

It was supposed to start off with the Nalia getting kidnapped quest. You would then find a note which linked the slavers there (and maybe the ones under the CC as well) to the Guarded Compound. There would be links there to the Twisted Rune (in the Bridge District) and the Tanner's quest (also in the bridge district). It was all cut out, although the individual quests/battles are still there. The patch simply links the Guarded Compound to the Twisted Rune and doesn't attempt to put in any of the other stuff.

Hrm so I guess I'm not missing much. Just remembered another little loose end I never got to saw to the end. Habib Khalid. I'm sure most of you have ran into this wierd little guy but just forgot. He's the guy that comes up to you sometime during the game and whacks you once and leaves.

I trailed him to the Ilmater temple in the slums where he whacks me again and leaves. And the priest told me that he's been through some stress or whatever and that I should take it easy on him. But I haven't been able to find him since.

Anyone know what this thing leads to?

My main interest is the guy's last name. I mean, how likely is it that they'd double a name as important as that?

If I am not mistaken, Habib was a viewer submitted NPC that was selected in a contest some 6-8 months before the game came out. One of the publishers put out a notice that a lucky viewer could get thier NPC into the game. If I am not mistaken this was the NPC

That is interesting indeed. Habib is a pretty popular name thanks to the Married With Children TV show. SO I guess that is possible that someone decided to use that and just slapped in the Khalid name because it added a snap to the name and it seemed familiar. Any links you can point to that contain the story for the contest?

Actually Yuusuke, it´s the president that gets credit for this line, not the doctor (who by the way is one of movie-history´s most hilarious characters!! :D ).

Yeah but if I attributed the quote to Peter Sellers, probably not alot of people would know who the heck that is. I'm attributing it more to the movie than the person that actually said it in the movie.

Oh, so that's what that Khalid guy was for? He popped up to me, but he happened to pick a time when i had fire giant strenghth or something like that. My paladin KO'd him in one hit. He had like a scimitar +1 or something. It was over before I knew what happened. I had to scroll the text back up, lol

I read about the contest on the Planet Baldur's gate website (Baldurs gate Chronicles) some 6-8 months before the game came out. Just a brief little blurb from what I remember about the post from the developers about the winning submission.

As I remeber it....Habib was a human thief with average abilities that was ashamed of being a thief. When he would steel or do other thiefly activities he would feel ashamed and want to seek forgivness from the temples, but he was too ashamed to enter the temples. Thus would throw his money that he stole into the temples and say some little blurb, and then run away.

I'm sure I left out some of the important stuff, but is the jist of the story. All this is from memory so forgive me if I am wrong.
