Render Creation Error ""

Post by Beowulf »

Has anyone else had this problem? When I start the game, I see a blank screen, and a little error box, saying *Render Creation Error ""*. On the official site, it said that a render creation failure was due to either a sub standard video card, or a need for new drivers.
My video card is an S3 3.3 c005-HP1

It's possible you might need a newer graphics card or just a more recent Direct X, Morrowind is a DX8+ game, anything lower and the game probably wont run at all. You should have the latest DX on the installation CDs.

Drat, I suspected as much. Either I'll have to pay for it myself, or else convince my Dad that he desperatley needs it for playing solitaire. How much would a decent-ish one cost?

Depends on what you want, you can get a GeForce 4ti 4200 for about 150-200 pounds depending on options. If you are looking for budget you could pick up a GeForce 2 for 70-120 ish...Morrowind is rather hungry so the 4200 would certainly help :) We have several threads in the Tech Support forum that you could check out...

i have the game running tolerable with TNT2 32M (no time to move to new with GF :D ), so it might ever not be an issue. First you may try to get the latest version of driver. There might be problem with your dad again, thought, only one of my children in our family has access to administrative account.
The right way might be to infect your dad with game, too. However, then there is another danger you might think about... ;)

re: Render Creation Error: ""

I was playing the game nicely all day yesterday after grabbing it from the offers shelf at Virgin, today I try to start it and now it refuses to start, giving me the Render Creation Error: "" BS error.
The only thing installed after it was adobe so I could read the manual.pdf.

Spec:
Athlon XP 1700,
Savage4 32
AC97 OB soundchip
512 DDR ram

any hints greatly appreciated, I was really enjoying the game, and a frelling annoyed it won't start back up :(

Black Widow ¬{ :-) >

ps. ya, I know the savage is old, but as I said the game was working yesterday, bar the maps and char image in the inv being scrambled and the opening vid not working, just white screen w. sounds going.

I run the game great with a Radeon 9200.

For my new computer I was buying a card and I saw the 9200 for $30 at CompUSA.

That's not too much at all.

Maybe Solution

Hi, I also had the render creation error, but I think I found a solution!! I have Windows 7, ATI Radeon 4890 HD, i7 processor and some other hardware I don't remember the name of, but as I said, i think this solution works for everyone. The only thing you need to do is run in compability mode for Windows XP Service Pack 2, nothing more. Hope this works for all of you who have this problem.
