*Spoilers* Possible Bug with Chapter 1, Pretty Major

Post by Cloth Boy12 »

I restarted the game, now I'm a level 6 monk with Daelan as a henchman. I got the waterhavian creatures from the Beggar's Nest and the Docks. I have yet to get the creatures from the Blacklake District and the Prison district. I'm currently in the prison district, in the room where the Intellect Devourer is, or should be... During the battle upstairs with the half-orc, I noticed that he never turned neutral on me and talked with me, he just died. When I went downstairs, the Head Gaoler Astefan was there along with 4 neutral former guards. I killed the Head Gaoler and freed all the guards but the INtellect Devourer is not there. Any help with this? Thanks.

Perhaps you or your henchman killed Astefan so quickly that you also destroyed the Intellect Devourer as he tried to escape, without noticing it. Look around in the area. See if a part of him remains on the ground.

Wouldn't think it'd be necessary to talk with the half-orc to complete this quest, although there are serveral times throughout this game where an enemy goes nuetral during the fight and all it takes is a errant swing by your henchman to screw this up, and it's really bad when the enemy has summoned a monster to defend itself the summoned monester doesn't go neutral and if you attack it the enemy that went neutral go back to aggressive, how screwed is that?

Anyway, is it possible there's another gaurd down there you missed? I don't see how you could have killed the creature without knowing but check the groud for any items, worst case scenario reload.

sorry I couldn't be more help

In one of my games, my druid and company accidentally killed the half-orc after he'd surrendered. It didn't affect anything else.

Sounds doubtful, though it's worth a shot. The Intellect Devourer has pretty high HP, so I don't think that would happen. If you can't find any traces of it like Fable said, try loading a save game before the half-orc and redoing that battle. It's likely your last hit was a critical that killed the half-orc before he could say his dialogue, which might be plot critical.

Thanks for the help everyone. Sadly, I didn't have any saved games before the battle with the Half-Orc and there was no trace of the Intellect Devourer and his brain. My only choice was to reload the chapter, not that bad since now I'm breezing through everything. I think it was just a bug, I dind't kill the Head Gaoler that fast last time since it took quite a while with level 7 monk. It must have been a bug with the devourer not spawning or taking over another body after you kill the head gaoler. It worked this time through. Thanks for the help everyone.

You could have tried getting the brain from the pool instead. (Next to the portal)
Not sure it would be there as the game might still consider the devourer alive, but its worth a shot to save you the trouble of redoing even more of your adventure.
