Final take on NWN

Post by nightWisper »

Well I finally finished the game and so decided to share my impression about the game. For starts as mentioned in a previous thread I did think that the single player storyline was
a. too short,
b. too easy for the most part.

I did have some problems from time to time. Especially with Dragons. But only because my PC would get frightened and just stand around getting hammered. The side quests were sort of, how do I put it, round about the same. In almost every case you would have to go find something and more often than not the item could be found in a dungeon you were going to go to anyway. Not that that's a bad thing but I kind of get sick of dungeon crawls after awhile, not being a big fan of hack and slash. I really really like the side quests in chapter 2 and 3 where your wits mattered more than your brawns. I won't mention the actual side quests but I am sure most of you know what I am talking about. I just wise there were more quest like that in the single player campaign. But I guess that is what the toolset is for.

But getting back to the single player campaign, I didn't like the henchmen much because the henchmen by in charge was dumb as doornogs. Even when I rested before a big fight and knew that all my henchmen's spells were active the spells that my henchmen cast were not always what anybody with half a braincell would cast. I mean you are fighting Dragons and instead of casting that spell that does massive negative energy damage you attack him with your mace? What's with that?

But finally NWN really is a multi-player game where the emphasis is on making your own quests and so forth. I can live with that plus overall NWN is pretty good game. Thumbs up for the most part.
Never be to sure of what you know. For remember there was a time when people "knew" the world was flat.
