Why are female gnome illusionists bald when they walk around? And why do they have beards?

It's an illusion. What did you expect? :)
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

According to J.R.R.T., humans aren't able to recognize visible difference between dwarf male and female. Due to it there is even belief that there is no female dwarves and they appear from stone instead of being born
