Yee Haa a bonanza of loot! *possible spoiler*

Post by Silver Knight »

Each time I visit the Assarnatamat shrine, in the Foyada Mamaea, just northeast of Balmora the golden saints seem to multiply. Last time I got 2 plus a winged twilight. So far they have given up an ebony broadsword, an ebony shield, a daedric shield, a glass jinkblade, and a glass longsword. A couple of nice dremora lords inside coughed up an ebony spear and a daedric claymore.

Unfortunately I now have 3 daedric claymores and nowhere to sell them. Where do I get a plugin that supplies a trader with unlimited funds?

And, boy, is that daedric shield ugly!

Dont like the daedric shield, eh? Yeah. It is pretty strange. Also the orchish shield is just as bad.

Best person to sell stuff to is Creeper in Caldera-in the Orc manor. But daedric items take too long to bring the price down to what the vender can give you for money/compensation. So all the daedric items I find that I keep-they are all decorations in my stronghold. Makes my stronghold look cool.

If you want to change the Morrowind economy so you can actually sell your loot, I would recommend Shakti's temple fences plugin (http://home.austin.rr.com/shakti/morrow ... lugins.htm). Beats the hell outta exploiting the Creeper or the crab. I mean sure, the scarcity of funds is there for a reason, but if you decide to circumnavigate it, may as well make it easy on yourself. I did!

Money...

I guess I don't see the infatuation with money. I haven't enchanted any items and all my equipment is stuff I've stumbled upon in my adventuring. I don't go out of my way to find the free armor in some mansion, but if I find some armor in a mansion that I'm in...I'll swipe it! ( I am a Thief after all ). The battle part of this game is too easy as it is without jacking up my gear.

It just irritates me that there is so much loot in the game and very little you can do with most of it.

I find you don't need to go looking for stuff, just wander around, get into fights, and there it is.

I guess it's a hold-over from my days of Baldur's Gate, I'm used to raiding a dungeon and making a quick 100k on the spoils.

I mainly want the stuff to train my miscellaneous skills as I really can't be bothered to cast paltry spells for ages to up my magic. And I'm far enough into the game that it would be very dangerous to take enemies on with a shortblade skill of 5! I would have to go looking for an awful lot of rats/scribs etc!

I see the point. Why make a Sword worth 10,000 if you can't sell it to anyone for that much.
I'd rather they put "priceless" on the value.

It is tough to get spell lvls up. I spent a good part of the game playing thief/fighter quests, now its impossible to advance in the mages guild without buying training. Failing a spell 8 times to succeed once is pretty repetitive.

Just buy a spel "Xy <jour desired spell type here>" with probability of success high enough and cost in spell points low enough. I grant you it'd be weak enough, but, on the other hand, it'd be cheap enough. Then excersise. If you have some prejudices about shooting dummy (think, hovever, how often, say, policeman or soldier practices on dummies and how often he have real target, and how much he has to learn to be allowed to be on duty with probability of having necessity to use a weapon), you always have those crabss and scribs to practice on (as far at it goes for destruction; illusion, restoration and other do not require enemy at all)

I think that's because the game developers wanted you to see game stuff as something other than "convertible currency." ;) After all, there's no reason why everything found in a gaming environment should be automatically sellable. Some very good CRPGs in the past have created items that you simply could not sell, which is far more invasive, when you think about it, than having some merchant say they've only got 10% of the item's obvious worth to offer in exchange for it. Just my POV. :)

I found unsaleable items in the Baldur's Gate series very irritating.

I refuse to part with any of my 3 daedric claymores for a pittance, even though you can only use one at any given time to thrash your enemies soundly. Their weight really precludes carrying a spare in case you can't do any field repairs.

In a game world as well conceived as that in Morrowind, surely there should be a better class of merchant who can deal in such exclusive wares. I'm not all that far into the game, there may be better ones later on, but so far nobody has anything good enough or even anything of sufficient cash value to trade my loot for.

I don't feel that the lack of cash adds to the gaming experience at all. The whole point of being a freelance adventurer is to get rich on the spoils and buy things to make you even more powerful. Maybe I have played too much Baldur's Gate and Dungeon Siege in the past ;)

It is one of my few and minor complaints about this game, other than it's almost total lack of stability, even with the patch.

You dont have to part with the weapons if you want to keep them, but the item weight is so severe you have to drop them somewhere. If/When you get a stronghold, storing your weapons there is a great idea. I guess thats what the daedric stuff is for: using it, and showing it off!

But there is no vender that has above 10K gold. So I would recommend just making your stronghold look cooler by dropping items there. I consider all my items in my stronghold either treasures or trophies and I show them off their. I dont have to carry them but they are readily available.

Well, as soon as I get a stronghold I have a couple of full sets of ebony to display :D

I wonder if I can get one of those armour rack thingummies so I can display them standing up.

My heavy armour skill has reached 100 so now I'm working on medium armour. Orcish looks odd but kind of grand at the same time.

I think I am going to get beaten up a lot, my armour rating has dropped from 244 to 72. I dread to think what it will be like when I go for light armour. Maybe I can use my loot then and trade it to the guy in ghostgate for a full set of glass.

Stashing Your Stuff

Untill I am far enough along to get a strong hold, I find the Mage's Guild to work great. I get a guest room, spell it with "Mark", use the Guil Guide transport system, Stilt Striders, spells of Devine Intervention, and Almsivi's Intervention to get to or close to almost anywhere I need to go. When I am finnished with my quest, I use spell of "Recall" to zip back home. Nothing has ever been missing yet.

Spoiler:

.................Well actually you can just dump your stuf in the transport cell and no one will bother it, but it ruins the effect

Hey Silver Knight, have you found any orchish shields? They go with the orchish armor set, but, man, the shields are UGLY! So of coarse I have to display one in my stronghold :D

But as far as shelves to store armor in strongholds-Im not going to ruin any surprises, but there are shelves, desks, beds, etc-but nothing to get any objects to stand upright, unfortunetly. Still lots of fun to show off your treasures and trophies, though.

@ khaselri: the sword is a daedric claymore, great for bashing your foes to their knees and beating on them when they are helpless. I got it from a random dremora lord I killed in a daedric shrine. There is one:

** spoiler **

in a locked chest inside the Telvanni wizard's stronghold in Gnisis.

Spoiler over.

@ Tybaltus: I do have an orcish shield which I use most of the time, I was only carrying the daedric claymore for the 'photo opportunity.' My character is a good and noble fighter, but very vain

And you are quite right, the orcish shield is ugly!! It does, however, have more panache than the daedric shield.
