Importing a character from BG1 - question

Post by Mercury Night »

I played BG2 before I played BG1, and recently I bought the origional to get the experience of taking a character through the whole series. In BG1 I played a female elven ranger, but when I imported to BG2, I noticed some stange things...

First off, I have fewer hit points than I did in BG1....a lot fewer, about 20. Is this usual?? I didn't have any hit point raising items on my character in BG1, so that can't be it.

Also, my THACO seems to be worse...that might be due to items though, I'm not sure.

Can anyone help me out here? If this is normal, then I suppose it's a game balance issue, or whatever. But having never imported before, I wasn't sure.

I don't think it is usual although I've got to admit I never looked that closely. I can think of few reasons why your character would have fewer hitpoints - did everything else (stats etc) stay the same? It would be interesting if you tried re importing and seeing if they still had less hitpoints.

Well, here's an update:

I tried importing from a character file, instead of a saved game which is what I did the first time. And now I have the proper amount of hit points (yeah!). I'm not sure if the first time was a glitch, or if things get messed up when you import from a saved game, or what. But this is a heads up to all - if you're importing from BG1, especially a saved game, keep an eye on your stats and make sure you're not getting ripped off!

And now *sigh* I have to do Irenicus' dungeon all over again. This is something like the fifteenth time...I swear, if I have to talk to Reilev one more time, I'm going to snap....

There's a file on Baldurdash called Karzak's Skip Introduction Scripts at this page: http://members.rogers.com/mrkevvy/tweaksandcheats.html At least it shortens that non-interactive introductory sequence by 75%, which should help a bit.
