Boots Of Speed
Has anyone managed to get these prior to chapter 3 and prior to a level 12 character. I seriously tried to get them even by loading and reloading random treasure and was unable to until almost immediately after turning level 12. It would be great to get them early on. Nothing beats a tiny halfling wiggling their bum through a dungeon af fast speeds.

I got them in the early part of chapter 2 with my fighter. I don't remember where, but I remember I had them for almost the entire chapter. I don't think I was level 12 when I got them, but might have been. Levels flew past me in chapters 2 and 3.

I got them off the Black Wolf's dead body.

I don't remember what level (pretty high though...maybe 8-10, and I exploited the 'respawning guards' in Blacklake for a couple of them) I was, but my 2nd monk got them before leaving chapter one. I did a lot of save/reload cheezing for uber loot in chests though. I remember finding some boots of speed AFTER I had found the Golden Circlet and the Robes of the Dark Moon, so I didn't consider them for anything except my henchman at that point.
It's possible that I had a total of 12 levels (1 wiz/1 druid/10 monk) *shrug*. I really can't remember, but I am POSITIVE I found them in chapter 1.

Level 12 in Ch. 1?
You're kidding, right? I was barely level 8 at the end of it, and I did almost every single side-quest...

I tried to find them on Black Wolf (is that his name) too but they weren't there. It must have been a random item.
On a side note, someone mentioned spawning guards in blacklake??? Where is this. If don't remember the spot so let me know. If this is the case, then you could get build up some easy experience.

It's the absolute truth. I had a familier, an animal companion, and a henchmen...flew through levels real quick. I did all the quests, but it was the summons that kicked my XP into high gear (not to mention the Blacklake XP exploit
). Gimped my next guy by not using the summons, but kept the same classes...I wasn't anywhere near level 10-12 when I left chapter 1 the last time
.

@Lunarwater:
It's one of the "Madam's" quests. The guy you have to steal the portrait from...sorry, don't remember his name off the top of my head. Anyway, when you get to his room try to tick him off and when he surrenders, challenge him to a fight. He'll call respawning guards to defend him...kill the group...rinse and repeat until they won't spawn anymore (I remember having upwards of 45k XP when they stopped appearing).
@Magus:
I went back and checked a (very) old savegame with that monk. He was level 11 (1 wiz/1 druid/9 monk) w/ 57,143 XP...but I'd just rescued the Dryad and hadn't even gone to the Beggar's Nest yet

I found four (yeh, 4) boots of speed in ch 2 alone. And, found 2 more in ch 3. However, I am still unable to find the armor I want; Aslyferund chain mail. It may not have best stat, but I think it's the best looking light armor.
There can be...
No good without evil
No heaven without hell
No love without hate
No innocence without lust..

Summons sure are a big loophole in the EXP scheme...(shakes head in astonishment) Bioware really should fix that.

Or you could do what I did and just don't use 'em
With the level cap of 20, it's a moot point anyway, if you plan on playing the game MP. In SP you can (and should) police yourself, if you even want to, that is.... In MP, odds are you'll be playing with friends, engaging in PvP (with other high-level folks), or joining a group with a newly-created character, etc. Experience exploits will only get you so far (20th-level) and shouldn't even be a factor, with the exception of the single-player quests. And even then I think there are a lot more things Bioware should be fixing right now than the summon/solo:XP ratio....
With the toolset you could hack just about any character you wanted to play anyway...where's the fun in that? The game's already too easy and the SP game is kinda shallow, so my hope lies with the new mods coming out. My MP sorc has gained a few more levels so far than my buddies in the mods we've played (by using a pixie familiar), but pretty soon we'll all be the same level. No one complains about multiple maximized fireballs raining hell into the melee and delivering righteous SMACKDOWN! on a group of Zombie Lords either
. I guess I really just don't see it as much of a problem *shrug*. If you want to use the exploit, go ahead...if you don't, then...ummm...don't
. I've tried it both ways and I can honestly say that it's a personal choice and only affects SP for me.
