brain master in the illithid tunnels

Post by LeTz »

so i've finally reached him (btw, unclescratchy - thanx, it worked! ;) ), but the tactic that got me that far isn't much now.
i got my three warriors protected from confusion (by chaotic commands spells) plus the brine potion which supposed to protect me from psionic blast. i don't know why, but for some reason they just die (even when they're not fully injured).
i know that i must first kill the brain master because he creates the illithids, but even if i'm successing in killing him, my charecters
die afterwards.
why?
i don't think that it's supposed to be that tricky.
am i missing something?

I always sent in summoned critters, then had my real time hit the master with all they could. Once it was dead, the rest of the team moved in and replaced the summoned stuff, which was pretty much dead, anyway. :)
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

I all ways send in critters too. Mountain Bears are a personal favorite along with Wizard's Eyes and Mordenkainen's Swords. And don't forget to Haste them before you send 'em in. And if that doesn't work have your Cleric cast Gate in there and close the door, wait about 30 seconds and send in someone invisible, sanctuaried, or hidden in shadows to check it out.

Whoops, I posted on your other thread before noticing this one.

The mind flayers melee attack drains intelligence. So your relatively dumb tank who's probably going up against them will last about two hits before dying. Try potions that boost intelligence, and watch your melee's stats. When the intelligence gets too low (he'll die when it hits 0), back him off or drink another potion. Mordenkain's swords are ideal for use as tanks while your party uses ranged weapons.
