Would this be a good character ? HELP

Post by De_Priester »

I was thinking about creating a really crazy but perhaps powerfull character :

Pal/sorc/monk/fight

How

2 lvl pal for the bonuses (disease and such)
1 lvl monk for evade and cleave or sumtin :P
1 lvl sorc for familair (pixie no more traps) and mage armor(+4acbonus)/resistance and protection from allignment.
maybe 2 lvls since they get rather cool spells then or is that at lvl 3 ?
17 lvl fighter for kickass action.

Now I know nothing about all those nice rules you guys talk about but this sounds to me like a fun character and probably nice and strong. Anyway don't know how to start this char yet and with what kind of stats so please help me out :P

Keep in mind that you will be subject to an experience point penalty with the level spread of the classes. This may not be an issue for you - but keep it in mind.

The stats for this character should probably focus on strength, constitution and dex - since you are mainly a fighter. Maybe go with something like:

S - 16
D - 14
C - 14
W - 12
Int - 8
Ch- 12

You may want to leave out the monk levels - you will have plenty of feats as a fighter. This will also avoid the xp penalty if you are human, dwarf, or half elf.

Good luck ;)

I thought you could only gain levels in 3 classes and no more. Could be wrong though.

That does seem like a really fun character to make and play though.

Well I used the character sorc/pal/fight and he owned at least for as far as I tried, his pixie could pick locks and do the traps leaving me to hire the orc as tank. My mage spells gave me +4 armor and some minor protection vs evil and resistances whilst the palladin up to lvl 2 gave me his nice buffs and the rest I'm spending on fighter.

Kinda funny but really overpowered not at first tho but lateron he becomes kinda strong since you can get a great merc cast a cannon fodder beasty to lure spells away from you aswell as a pixie taking hits for you while you kick ### very nice combo indeed

You can only have 3 class. The problem with this class is that it can't really use heavy armour. Monk lose their bonus w/armour, and sorcs gets 50% arcane failure. It can be a pain to decide which class to advance further. Paladin/Fighter w/o good armour = dead man.

Here is another fun class (possibly):
Druid/Monk/Rogue
Leave Monk and Rogue at lv 1. Use a good Monk robe to get the Wisdom AC bonus (which should be pretty high for a Druid), Monk gloves for bonus attack and so on. Rogue so you can get rid of traps and set them. With a Shield, you can get very high AC (40-50ish?), you get your unarmed attack bonus when shapeshifted, and can still sneak attack for 1d6...

Nevermind Rogue, forgot Rogue can't be Lawful

I thougth about mixing Druid with Monkl, because of that WIS Bonus to AC. But you forgot, that Monks have to be Lawful, while Druids have to be Neutral. That doesn´t go together because the primarily alignment counts. So Lawful neutral doesn´t work either.

Any kind of neutral for Druids, any kind of lawful for Monks...

That would have been a powerful combination, I agree.

I hope I´m right on this. If not, please correct.

I think Lawful Neutral works, since you can make a Lawful Neutral Druid. It just have to have "neutral" somewhere in the alignment

Just tried this combo out - druid/monk works fine. This seems to be an interesting combo - how many levels of each would you take? I was considering adding some rogue levels as well...

@ the original poster. As has been mentioned, by others you can only have 3 classes, and if you only take one level as a sorceror you will eventually reach a point where your pixie won't have enough skill to open locks and disarm traps, later in the game the difficulty class of the traps gets very high. Id either drop the monk or the paladin.

No. If they did everyone would take one level of wizard or sorceror just for the free help. The familiars and animal companions are based on your CLASS level not your CHARACTER level.
