Press the tab key to switch to third-person view. Press and hold tab to view your character from different angles. I find it easier to fight from the first-person perspective.

To swing your sword and hit something with it, click the left-mouse button repeatedly while looking at what you're hitting. If you hold the mouse button down for a bit before releasing it, you'll get more power when you hit. This is very useful with bows - hold the mouse button down until the "load bow" animation is complete, then release. You'll be able to take down cliff racers in a single hit. The cross-hair feature is very helpful with ranged weapons.

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

*agrees totally with sojourner* just press tab...but fighting in 3rd is useless. its easier to control your char in 1st, unlike many games

Greetings Zu'l. Glad you followed my advice from Speak Your Mind. :)

Yes-Sojourner is right. But its cool to look at how cool your character turns out by hitting tab or holding it down when there is no danger around.
“Caw, Caw!” The call of the wild calls you. Are you listening? Do you dare challenge their power? Do you dare invade? Nature will always triumph in the end.

I pretty much played the whole way through in 3rd person, occassionally switching to 1st to use the crosshairs to target a difficult-to-pick-up item.

(I thought 1st might help, also, when fighting low-lying creatures that attack your feet (like rats or squibs) but it didn't seem to help. Maybe I just wasn't rolling any damage.)

I enjoy, and am very used to, 1st person view from FPS but, for some reason, I found the 1st person view in MW to be somewhat disconcerting. There is something about it which seems slightly off; it's hard to describe but it's almost as if you're *too* close, like the camera is about a foot forward of where it should be.

Maybe it's just me. I haven't seen anyone else complain about this but, then, I don't read every thread. Perhaps I should start one on this.

... and when I look at you I think, if I were a psychopath and we were standing on an extremely high cliff above a pounding surf that would drown out your scream ... well ... you know ...

I'm slightly beyond being 1/2 done with the main quest, but of the 3 weeks I've been playing Morrowind, I have, probalby, only spent about 20 minutes playing the game in 3rd person perspective. The only reason I used it anyway is to check out how my character looks with his armor (and it was good 'till I got some robe that has 50 feather constant effect, so now, I can't see my beautyful armor :( ). I guess they fixed 1st perspective for the Xbox version, because everything seems very natural to me (pretty much a lot like Halo).

Zorander you did not specify which version you have. If you have Morrowind for Xbox then R-trigger is for launching attacks (swinging, shooting arrows/bolts, using magic, depending on what you have selected), and you have to click the right thumbstick to switch to the 3rd person view, or hold it while moving it to rotate camera around your character.
