Initial points distributions

Post by lompo »

If I understood right you start with all the abilities at 10 and you have 16 points to distribute.
Can you reduce some of your abilities below the 10 (not counting racial adjustement) so to have more points to spread on the other abilities?

Yes, you can drop your attribute scores to get more points. However, if you drop a score below 10, you begin to incur penalties to attribute checks/saving throws. For instance, in the first IWD, you could drop the INT of your brick characters to 3 with very few ramifications. Now, if you drop our your INT, you will get fewer skill points when you level up. If you can live with this, there's no reason not to drain out your INT and CHA scores to get more points to add into your other attributes. You don't want to drop WIS too much because that will affect your Will save.
Jesus saves! And takes half damage!

If brute force doesn't work, you're not using enough.
