Which house should I join?

Post by Chunky »

Just a quick question people :)

As a warrior-minor mage hybrid, which house would be best for me? I was thinking for the noble warrior one, but I'm not sure (in terms of storyline) how their support of the Temple would affect my char (from a RP point of view)

So, any hints?

...and as an extension: which houses/guilds counteract each other? Specifically, can a char join the mages guild and telvanni, and still go anywhere in the morag tong (eee, I think I know the answer to this one...)?

Well you can join any house without tampering/hurting any other quest in the game. So dont worry about messing things up, cause it wont happen via the houses. BUT from a RP point of view here are the houses and their competitions:

Telvanni-Self-centered mages house, primarily caring for themselves. They are in competition with the other houses and the mages guild

Redoran-Noble warrior's house. Those who are paladin-type characters are promoted well in this house. They are against the other houses and anything that is really negative in any respect.

Hlaalu-The house of economists/traders-trying to get rich. Morality is not an issue, they dont care about it TOO much. They are is competition with the other houses and is also against the thieves guild, sort of.

OK? :) Is that what youre aiming for?

Thanks for the info - I think this time round I'll go with Redoran, although I'm not sure what they will think about my career with the Imperial Cult!

another matter to consider are the requisite skills for promotion. I joined Hllalu and soon found that it wasn't such a good fit. Their main skills are speechcraft sneak and some others. However, I had enough money to be trained in those skills. That also rounded out my character, making him more than just a thug fighter.

Redoran was my choice, simply because it fitted my character more than the other two. But i gave up on it and focused on the guilds and imperial legion instead.

Be sure to go back and do the Redoran stuff. The house quests are well worth doing, no matter what house youre part of.

Legion quests were neat. They, as you probably already know yield awesome artifacts. However, there was no fanfare after becoming the highest rank. I wanted a house!
Try to talk your way out of the later missions.
