Wild mage dual-class
I´ve just started a SoA game as a wild mage, now lvl.8 (still in Jon´s dungeon) and wanted to dual to beserker or barbarian (always get´s confused with those two, anyway, the one of em that is NOT a kit, but a true class) thus getting the barbarian immunities and being able to cast stoneskin, mirror image and so on later on, but the dual-class button is dark (i.e. "not press-color"). I have really high stats, so that shouldn´t be the issue.
Is it because wild mage is a ToB kit or something along those lines.
From an rpg view I just found it funny as hell with a chaotic neutral insano barbarian casting reckless dweomer...

If you ever fall off the Sears Tower, just go real limp, because maybe you'll look like a dummy and people will try to catch you because, hey, free dummy.

I strongly suggest the use of Shadow Keeper then...
(You cannot dual to a Barbarian legally IIRC. No class can. You can't do it even in pnp, IIRC again!)

Where we came from, we don't know
Where we're going.... (even worse)
And about who we could be, we actually have trouble in clearly defining the term "to be" in the first place...

Or is it just kits that cannot?

Why are you saying this? Are you having the same problem dualling a cleric?Originally posted by Jaesha

The problem is the attempt to dual to a Barbarian, not the class you start with, imho.
The concept is that you must be born a barbarian, to be one, I guess.

Oh, yeah, I forgot... well it seems there is a bug, because I cannot dual at all! Not even a pure fighter with stats 14/13/13/13/13/13... now this is downright unfair
I will now by using SK create *drumroll* the monk/sorc groundhog lvl 40/31!
And then I will go buy a bug catching net...

A bit of confusion here...
First, you can't dual TO kits.
When the general class is allowed to, you can dual FROM kits.
About the abilities requirements:
you need 15 in the main stat of the STARTING class
you need 17 in the main stat of the FINAL class
Anyway, I *think* that Wild-Mages are specifically forbidden to dual

talks about Wild Mages should be in the TOB forum since you can only get one if you have TOB installed (unless there's some SOA patch that I dont' know about). also you cannot duel to a barbarian no matter what your starting class is.
also about the finishing stats thing. that would mean that Anomen is hacked since he has just 12 wisdom (the minimum for priests). Since he's a fighter duel classed to a cleric (which you can duel class with).

I can't agree with this. Although you can only choose a Wild Mage once you have ToB installed, you can play it from the start of SoA. And "growing" a Wild Mage over the course of SoA is a interesting task which naturally belongs in this forum.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

ok, i personally have not tested this extensively, but you can indeed bun bun a monk to sorc, but you have some things to watchout for....
first, the magic resist and the monk special abilites will indeed carry over, once you sk to sorc...but you should add immediately after creating the monk, add "use any item" in the innates, and be sure to increment the number memorized to 1, open the game, use the button, and remember later to remove it...use any item added as a innate actually adds an affect to the affects tab, and this is what allows you to after sk to sorc use monk weapons.....other wise, your monk will only be able to use sorc weapons....
after you level the monk to 40, then set level to zero, change to sorc true class. and you should be ok...
just remember, make sure the monk never uses the ring of free action, this has been reported to be buggy and nerf the increased speed of the monk....
have fun....

Anomen *is* hacked. As almost all the NPCs.
Aerie is a cleric/mage (elves aren't allowed normally)
Mazzy has special powers.
Haer Dalis is specialized in short swords.
etc
(and, oh, Jaheira is "good"

Even worse... Anomen wouldn't be able to dual even after he passes the test!
(Wis 16)
And there's more!
Minsc has an hamster equipped! (Try to equip an hamster yourself if you can... or just your familiar)
Viconia has retained her magic resistance after months -if not years- away from the Underdark!
Solaufein has Dimension Door as an innate ability! (Is he part ... Unicorn, by any chance?)

Or is it? One of the canned ideads for BG2 was a Boo related subquest which resulted in Boo being 'upgraded' essentially giving Minsc eyes in the back of his head -- immune to backstab, saving throw bonus etc. The original creator of Minsc wasn't happy with the idea though...he preferred the ambiguity of Boo (is he a space hamster? Or is Minsc just building an unnatural relationship with a perfectly natural hamster?) and so Boo remains an enigma and Minsc is the only npc without any subquests. Shame.Originally posted by Jaesha
