Ok, just out of curiosity, why did you choose a WS?
Icewind Gate II Improved engine, third edition rules and the full BG2 storyline.

If you ever fall off the Sears Tower, just go real limp, because maybe you'll look like a dummy and people will try to catch you because, hey, free dummy.

Love is a perky elf dancing a merry little jig and then suddenly he turns on you with a miniature machine gun.

fun maybe, challenge. it's a quite difficult class, not being able to use healing potions.

including ToB, Baldurdash fixes and the popular Mods (Sola etc), what changes have been made to the original WS kit?

iirc now they are allowed to drink healing potions, and probably there are other things. Can someone plz summarize what has been changed, and if possible, when?

Maybe, they did it because, you have to fight super beasts like Demogorgon. Which is a monster somewhat worse than all the monsters in SOA combined!

a wizard slayer cannot use any magical equipment except for armor and weapons plus the boots of speed that's it. there is a soloing guild for dual classing a wizard slayer with a thief to get 100 magic resistance in the end, the only problem is that the guide is so small and doesn't say how to survive as a thief or where to go first. it just says what to use with a thief that can use any abilities in order to be able to use the holy sword, necklace of immunity to level drain and 2 other stuff.
the guide isn't that good though I tried it and stopped right away since If I remember right a wizard slayer can't use potions!!!. (but I could be wrong about that part.)
Remember, being Evil in Baldur's Gate 2 is VERY fun...

If you dual him to a thief and take the UAI ability.... will you be able to use all items? If so, it would be mayor cool.

the use any item ability does override anything that you can't use except for magical equipment limit (rings of +# AC and powerful armor).

Do you think you can handle Demogorgon, without drinking healing potions? Even if you could, there are so many more extremely hard opponents, you couldn't(I think).

It takes time to cast spells(I know, I know, Amulet of Power) , and remember that your cleric is also is attacked by Demogorgon, and Glabrezu's.

Cleric/mage = improved alacrity, robe of vecna, amulet of power and timestop. Not counting all the spell triggers....

Plus your pc innate magic abbilities ;)

Jup, but this isn't about saving your Cleric\Mage. It's about saving your Kensai. All those things might make you cast magic faster, but they are not going to save your cleric's *** from those 1396 Glabrezu's. :D

Stone skin, death ward and an occasional blur, will take care of that.

Plus you might have some other, expendable, npc's to help you out. And this, you could, extend with the help of some deva's and other summoned creatures.

Stoneskin, blur, Diva!?! They won't help you against 1396 Glabrezu's (maybe in the start, but you haven't got 1 billion stoneskin, have you? and the Divas, they won't last long! Blur... Why Blur!?!)
