Wizard Slayer/Thief or an Inquisitor?

Post by ReignsOfPower »

I personally h8 fighting mages, which is why I looooooove Wizard Slayer class....one problem arises however, Magical protections.
This brings up the topic of the Use Any Item ability.

In my opinion, I think a level 25 Wizard Slayer/lv27Thief with Greater whirlwind attack and Use Any Item abilities etc.etc. will outclass the Inquisitor in fighting mages.
With this combination you will be able to wield the Carsomyr with Grand Mastery, Dispel magic (just like the Inquisitor) and with every hack at the Mage dispel magic and apply a 10% cumulative casting failure.

Ok, so the Inquisitor gets the Innate ability to dispel magic at twice his casting level...the Wizard Slayer makes up for this with Magic resistance, Grandmastery and Spell casting failure. IMO I don't care about Ture Sight because once he makes his move and I see him he is dead meat.

Also another question, with the Carsomyr setting magic resistance to 50%, will the Wizard Slayers Natural magic resistence still be applied, or does this bug still exist? e.g. A wizard slayer with 20%magic resitance wielding the Casomyr...will his magic res be 70% or 50%?....if so....why?

Thanks

I just wonder how long it takes to get a level 25/27 fighter-thief?

As for the Carsomyr and magic resistance, I don't think it's a bug, it doesn't give you a 50% bonus, but sets the resistance to 50% total, so your wizzard slayer will have 50% resistance.
Since I still don't have ToB I'm not sure if they changed it there.

Well, I must say that this Wizard Slayer/Thief is a very mushkin combination. ;)

If Carsomyr isn't fixed for ToB, the dispel effect is nearly useless. You only have a 35% per hit chance against most of the high level SoA Mages already.

True Sight is pretty nice, since you can't hit Mages with Mirror Image or Mislead, even if they cast spells.

That Wizard Slayer spellcasting failure stuff, is that useful? I'd think that if you could hit the wizard, he'd be a) disrupted anyway, and b) half dead already.

Doesn't the wizrd slayer's spell failure work even through protections? If it does than I can see the use of it but otherwise, it sucks.
