I'm a mage and am in the first dungeon--is there any problem with resting a lot? I've already rest a few times, and am up to the 4th day (first dungeon).
Will this cuase me any problems? I've heard that there are some time-based quests that it will, but other than that?
major newb question: resting

You can rest as much as you need too pretty much throughout the game - I've heard some people that soloed a non-fighter class say it took them 60 days to get through the first dungeon.
In general, there are not too many quests that have a time limit. Nothing in the first dungeon, for sure. I can't really come up with a comprehensive list here, and I don't want to spoil the game for you. One thing you should do is save your game often, and make a save game each time you get to a new area or stage of the game - like when you get out of the dungeon you're in. Don't write over these saves, just name them and then keep a library of saves as you go through the game. You might never need them, but if you take a wrong turn, or find out you took too long to do a quest, or a bug messes something up, you'll be thankful that you saved along the way.
Cheers!

In Brynnlaw, after agreeing to get the pirate horn for Saemon, only rest if it is daytime, and only do so once. After that, DO NOT rest, as he will disappear and u will have to take the portal instead, i had to go back about 40 days in-game to a previous save and im playing it all over again. If i am wrong and he is there but i cant find plz post on my topic somewhere on the list called 'Where is Saemon'.
It is really frustrating so learn from my mistake, also use The Jaker's idea too incase it happens by accident

Have you ever heard any more inspiring or logical words? I sure haven't.

I think Mr. Sleep said he took a Barbarian through, ONLY doing the game essential quests, and finished the game in 13 days game time. I'm pretty sure that's the record. If you do all the quests I haven't heard a good figure - I'm working on a game trying to do all quests but not waste time, and I think that I maybe could finish SOA not including Watcher's Keep in under 30 days game time. Travel time to Umar, Windspear, D'Arnisse, etc kills you. I tried to double up those quests but I couldn't do them all at once because I couldn't carry all the loot.

I'm not familiar with IWD, but I take it that's not a speed record?Originally posted by Quitch:
