Be careful about posting so many polls, Nael... Many people (for some reason) aren't the most receptive to these things.

Whew, I'm glad I voted for the big 12. Looks like I must be right. I live in the land of the big10 and I can tell you, it isn't the best football conference; I'm under the presumption this is a football discussion. Now I'm not sure, what are the criteria, my vote is based on collegiate football.

SEC....even thought most look like they are ready to blow up...

(16) Florida :D - Beaten by a team from Mississippi. :D
(9) Tennesse - Serious problems on the way for them.
(6) Georgia - A surprise against Alabama.
(15) LSU - Unproven and soon to fall.
(21) Auburn - Waiting on a team to put "Cadillac." in the repair shop and end their year.

My team Alabama...unranked and lost a close one to Georgia...living the death penalty for years to come....

that death penalty can be brutal...just look at what it did to SMU. can you believe they used to have good football teams?
my favorite story that came out of the whole alabama fiasco was they hired a stripper named "bare" bryant for the recruits. too funny.

big 12 has texas, oklahoma, colorado, kansas state, nebraska(any other year but this one), iowa state is looking better, and the good ol' fightin' aggies always hang around and are very unpredictable.

Well from the East coast and a fan of Boston College you KNOW I got to stick up for.................the PAC 10?!

Yup. Thats right. The Pac 10 is the best conference BAR-NONE! You got Oregon, Oregon State, Washington State, Washington, and USC all in that devision. Im telling you! This is the TOUGHEST devision to win. There is so much talent over there and they have emerged as a big time conference. Cal is also good along with Arizona who is suffering from injury but has some potential.

Also got to give a call to the Mountain West. This conference is the conference that is growing the quickest. Air Force, Colorado State, Fresno St., BYU, Utah, and even New Mexico have all become winning teams in the past few seasons, and many have been showing their faces in the BCS standings now and again and are very capable of turning a few heads. This conference is closely followed by Conference USA. The 2 most under-rated conferences out there.

Big Ten and Big 12 are horribly over-rated and get too much press.

i think the pac 10 although fairly loly rated is over rated still. USC?!?!? give me a break, they haven't been worth a damn since the mid 80's. the oregons and washingtons got WAY too much attention last year. mediocre at best.
the mountain west is agood conference in the sense that it has the best middle of the road teams. i think almost every team is good, but none of them are great, which sets the big boys apart fromt he other conferences.

so...is a conference "better" by having a few of the best and a few of the worst or havign all average yet solid teams?

examples of the worst teams:
Big12 - baylor
SEC - vanderbilt

i think the best improving conference is definitely the big east. of course miami has always been good (since the 80's), but pitt is coming along nicely, virginia tech has established itself as a consistently good team, not relying solely on Vick. BC can't really be dismissed automatically either.

Take a look at the rankings, nael....USC is up there. Theyve got one of the best defenses out there. Pete Carrol has done something to that team, and its good. Did you see what they did against the potent offense of Oregon State a couple weeks back? Held them to nothing.

Yes. I agree about your Mtn. West comments....but they are heading up there. A few more years they may put themselves on the national stage. The list I made before: they all have potential of showing up and playing well against tough teams. High ranking teams.

Big East has been in a state of above average for some time now. VA Tech is really the only addition to power. But BC, and Miami have had a consistant strength, and Pitt was good, then went bad, now theyre good again. But look at the teams that are falling from power in that devision-Syracuse, West Virginia....and the teams that never were really any good to start with-RUTGERS Temple. Not much has changed in this devision. For someone who steps up, someone else steps down.

Its hard to vote for a specific conference. There are teams I like from different conferences, but overall I'm voting for Big Ten. Ohio State is my favorite team.

I live in the Big East zone and really don't care for any of the teams. I don't like Miami, wish Florida would go and kick their ****. :D Conference USA has no well known teams. Can't remember what ACC was.

SEC would be my 2nd choice. I like Florida and hate the Volunteers so its good to see Tenessee lose. I wish Florida State was in this group so we would have more Florida vs. St games.

Big 12 is ok. There are alot of big teams but I don't care very much about them.

PAC-10- I like Oregon and UCLA somewhat.

ACC has teams like Florida State, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Duke, Clemson, among a couple others...

but see what you said, usc beat oregon state...i see it as two mediocre teams beating one another. a good defense isn't a good defense just because it prevents a bad offense.

Both teams have been beating non-devision teams aswell. You just wait for these 2 teams to face off against good teams, and I bet theyll show what theyre made of. I think theyre better than you think, but I have nothing to prove my ground, so Ill just wait and see what they can do.

Here's my listing

Big XII
Big East
Notre Dame
SEC
Pac 10
Big 10
ACC
Mountain West
C-USA

I rank the Big XII the best because from top to bottom they have the most competative teams - Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas State, Nebraska, Texas A&M, Colorado......need I say more?

Top to Bottom - Pac-10.

USC, UCLA, Oregon, Washingtion, Arizona State, Stanford, Washington State have all won the conference title in the last decade; every team is dangerous.

Most top teams - Big 12

Colorado (depending on phase of moon), K-State, Nebraska, Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma. Baylor and Kansas hurt the team's depth.

Currently holding the coveted title of "Cheatingest Conference" - SEC

Making a strong move to knock off the old SWC as cheatingest conference in history. :)

Im afraid you do....most of those teams except for Texas, K-state, and Texas A&M are slipping BIG time......

Got to thank Nygma for giving the Pac 10 some acknowledgement. Thank you. Someone finally recognizes that the Pac-10 has got the consistantly good teams, where as the other devisions all have the team that is practically the gimmie...
Big XII-Baylor Kansas
Big 10-Theyre all slipping a bit...but for now its Northwestern
SEC-The poor commodores of Vanderbilt. Well, Im still pulling for them. :D
ACC-Duke
Conference USA-Army
Big East-RUTGERS, Temple
Mtn West-Wyoming
Sun Belt-Everybody but Middle Tennessee State.
WAC-Hmmm....there are a few mediocre teams here...pick one...there are good teams like Fresno, Boise St, Louisiana Tech, Hawaii, and San Jose State is coming along...everyone else...could do better
MAC-Everyone but Bowling Green, Marshall, and Kent State
Independants-Navy, Utah State, South Florida

So PAC-10 is the most consistantly good conference out there.

EDIT-I just noticed that NO ONE actually even acknowledged the MAC, WAC, and Sun Belt....those poor devisions. :( :D

No conference could survive the witch hunt that occured down here in the '80's. There is a conspiracy theory that out of state schools started the whistle blowing to be able to pull more talent out of the state.
