Is this a Bug?

Post by JSPCHIEF »

I'm in Ch 6 and decided to kill the red Dragon before I go fight Bohdi. No matter what I do, Firkaags first attack kills my char. He uses breath weapon and my NPCs get injured but not killed. I even had Edwin cast Otiluke's Sphere on me and I still die instantly. My Swashbuckler is lvl 24...so it's not like he's weak. We killed the shadow dragon in about 1 second. Does anyone know what's up with this? By the way I checked my saving throws and I'm a seven for breath weapon with -5 in parenthesis. Why the negative five? My equipment doesn't appear to affect this.

This would be a major bug. the -5 should come from items that give you better saving throws. Or it is a class ability
"Those who control the past control the future, those who control the present control the past" And I rule the PRESENT!!
I put the 'laughter' back in 'slaughter'

So is that -5 five a good thing? Is breath weapon avoided by prot. from fire? Maybe I'll try that.

-5 is good, making the save probably halves the damage taken.

IIRC correctly, a venerable red AD&D dragon breathes for something like 20 W20 fire damage, giving an average of 210. Anyway, this shouldn't kill a lvl 24 char on the spot if he makes his save - at least not always. Prot from fire could help. Other wise there are about 500 threads about dealing with dragons hidden in the depths of this board. A search could help. ;)
