Too easy
Too easy
OK, this is starting to bug me.....
I've seen more than a few posts now that the games is to easy and I really want to know.... do I just suck at it? I didn't find it "easy" until late in the game (when you're too powerful IMO).
Are you telling me that if you:
- crank up the difficulty
- don't cheat on your character creation (hint: all 18's = cheat)
- don't use ShadowKeeper to load up on items
- don't reload everytime someone dies (and hence fight the same battle until you get the best result)
... thats its EASY? I mean, the second or third time through should be EASIER, but I'm still finding it a challenge.

No I sure you don't. Everyone should agree that the Irenicus Dungeon is difficult w/o resting and having the NPC's. And the first 1/4 of chap 2. But form there I think it does get pretty easy. Unless you are going after the dragons and litches in chap 2 it should be relatively easy (assuming you read this board and manual of spell discriptions).Originally posted by Satyr:

.
Are you fighting litches and dragons at level 10 or waiting until say 13+?

except the first dungwon w/o resting, (i really has to rest at least once, but at most twice), and then doing the right quest at the right time, (means do go to windspear hill or umar hill straight after u got out to CH2) it will get a lot easier with right com#binaton of spells and a well balanced party.
even i didn't cheat, my ranger/cleric could have almost every stat at 18(except int at 6 and charisam at 16)

<<- don't reload everytime someone dies (and hence fight the same battle until you get the best result)>>
That's a pretty controversial definition of "cheating". Technically if you follow that logic, you should restart the game every time your main character dies. And I think not even the most hardcore players do that.

LOL if you take that logic to its ultimate conclusion if the main char dies you should never be allowed to play the game again. Your first run through would be your only shot ( a bit like real life - no reloads allowed) and godhelpya if you stuff it up.Originally posted by Ceso:

does that mean you have to restart the game again when our pc dies?. (Then i think the game shouldn't support any save at all and we should finish the game in one go.)
well of course i didn't mean that the game already said you should quick save often, and that is the function for.

Actually, I don't think reloading is "cheating" at all, it just makes the game a lot easier when you reload everytime something bad happens.
Also, I should have said "don't reload everytime an NPC dies". I think having to resurrect dead party members (or losing them altogether) makes the game more difficult.

Personally, I'm getting really sick and tired of all the people stroking their egos by putting up yet another post about how easy BG2 is, as if there just aren't enough of them around. I'm not convinced.
The vast majority of these people that think the game is too "easy" are gipping themselves. BioWare's got nothing to do with it.

- If you remove the experience point cap, of course the game's going to be a piece of cake. Your problem, not BG2's.
- If you pick the most powerful class combination possible, equip him/her with the most powerful items in the game, and play solo (therefore soaking up experience too quickly), it's going to be easy. Isn't that a given? No reason for you to tell all of us. Over and over and over.
- If you exploit the game's AI, you're probably going to find tough monsters pretty easy. I don't knock "cheaters" for using these exploits; as long as they're having fun, that's all that matters. But don't gip yourselves and then complain to us.
- I'm an @$$hole. A complete and total @$$hole. And I don't believe for a minute that you people are soloing the game with beastmasters and wizard slayers with all 3s for stats. I think you're liars. I think you're @$$holes.

1. the experience will probably get you at most 2 more levels or not a lot more, it won;t do a great deal in terms of kicking the computer's ass. at the ex cap, the character should kick ass anyway.
2. although i do find the game a bit easy towards the end, but it stills chanege me, cos i have tonnes of class to use. last time i used cavalier, now i am using ranger/cleric, next i'll use other chjaracters, i'll never get bored

I know, I'm agreeing with Satyr. And hoping that some of these BG2 Gods have a look at this thread, and take much offense to my rantings.Originally posted by kopywrite:
um...the original point of this topic was that the game presents a challenge...

I think the game presents a very good challenge, unless you powerplay it, which some people do. But if you go into it for all the sights, the sounds, the odd dialogs, examining every little corner for information, mixing personalities just for the fun of it, and all the rest, you end up taking a lot longer and having a whale of a better time.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
I also agree it's a very good challenge....the first couple of times. It will seem easier the more times you play it.
I believe I got my moneys worth out of the game.
1.My first game I imported my character from BG1+TotS Paladin....Had a great time playing through the game...missed some things..but other than that, well worth the money.
2.Second game..Started with my paladin again...different class this time. Used the walk thru here at GB to find the parts I missed....still had fun..Lot's of little stuff Black Isle put in the game..
3. Third game...tried a Mage/fighter..Dualed him at level 4( I did this in BG1...used CLUAConsole to get him to level 8 then exported him) Now it was a breeze...I knew were everything was at in BG2...some trouble still with the Hard one's(Dragons,Twisted Rune)
4.My last game...Used the last Paladin kit...no real challenge, kind of got old knowing what was coming next...but this was my fourth time thru the game and I believe I had already got my money's worth the first time.
Disclaimer: any remarks made here are my opinion only and should be took as that. This disclaimer is valid on the Moon and Mars
My opinion...it's hard for first one's playing this type of game and a challenge for the others. But after the first couple of times....the challenge declines.
