Dirty Fighting for Ranged Weapons?

Post by Aranan »

I was about to take this feat for my archer rogue, but I didn't know if it would count missle weapons for potential "dirty hits". Does anyone know?

hmm... good question. mebe u could just check the description for dirty fighting. i think i recall it saying melee only but i'm not sure, but i am pretty sure it doesn't affect ranged weapons (logically anyway cos then it should be called dirty shooting :p ).

It doesn't say - base attack bonus, minimum dex and causing a critical are the only prerequisites.

Well the feat isn't called dirty melee.. you can fight many ways ;)

Is it one of the passive feats? I had it for my fighter two levels ago and I haven't noticed it doing anything.

Yes, its passive - chance of causing blindness or slow on a critical.

Dirty Fighting works with any weapon.

Try loading up with crossbow/bolts as they increase the critical strike range by +1. When you roll a critical strike, 19 or 20 (since using crossbow), the victim gets a critical threat roll to determine if you had struck him/her critically. Then if he fails, he has to roll a fortitude save against getting blinded or slowed. if he fails, he either gets blinded (+2 attack bonus against victim, ac i not sure) or slowed for a few rounds.

its a very good buy esp. when you have all your party members shooting bolts at a monster.

True, but it is pretty much impossible to kill with single blow in IWD2.

Yes. I'm certain to have blinded opponents just with arrows. Not sure about "slowed" but it probably works as well.
