Entering city. How?

Post by ETAKO TUMANO »

I've gone through all the maps outside Baldur's Gate, all four parts of the Cloakwood Forest, into the Cloakwood mines, and I finally killed Davaeorn.
Yet, I can't get into the city of BG. What critical dialogue string or quest may I have missed which is keeping me out of the city?

It's been years, but if I remember correctly you shoulf find some papers in a chest in Daevorn's lair for the chapter to advance. Or maybe talk to his apprentice there.
"No one expects the Brazilian Inquisitor!"
Abazigal: "Oh my god! They killed Yaga-Shura!"
Sendai: "You bastards!"

If I recall correctly, there's a trigger in Davaeorn's lair that starts the next Chapter. After you kill Davaeorn, all you have to do is walk to the west side of his lair and step into the "express elevator". Davaeorn's notes will give you clues about the Iron Throne. His apprentice has some information, but it isn't much help; he mainly tells you things you should already know.

If you have already crossed the bridge to Baldur's Gate and can't find the entrance to the city, just keep looking for it on the west side of the map. You have to walk behind the city walls to get to it. I had a lot of trouble finding it the first time myself.

Ah, thank you both. I did pick up three scrolls in Davaeorn's room, but I haven't read them. I mistakenly thought that simply having them in my inventory would suffice.

The first time I ran this episode I read the scrolls and got the info about the Iron Throne. But then I sent Imoen directly into a mustard jelly. She took some unnecessary damage, so I reloaded the map at a point before she picked up the scrolls and haven't taken the time to read them.

Details, details.

Well, reading the scroll wasn't the answer. I overlooked the area directly north of the Friendly Arms Inn. I knew from previous games that BG1 has a map containing a large number of Ankhegs and a cave full of the creatures. But I kept wandering around Larswood and Pelvdale looking for it. Now I can't even remember how I stumbled onto the area.

Anyway, I got the Tenya quest from the farmers in the area, and made the mistake of immediately going to the Bridge area and killing Tenya. I strongly suspected that wasn't quite right, but what's done is finished. I just regret not making a separate save before that point.
