Are there subclasses within ICWII?

Post by InfiniteNature »

I have gotten so used to playing subclasses in BGII that I was wondering if the makers of Icewind Dale II have bothered to include them, I am waiting until the end of Finals week to actually buy my game otherwise I get way to obsessed and might not do so well this semester. Are there subclasses like the swashy or inquis in the game, and if at all possible in a attempt to squelch any thirst I have for playing it could you please tell me the highlights about what makes this a good game comparable to BGII, just got a little less then two more weeks to go and I can't wait, then after that comes THe Two Towers, then come mi next muy incomprehendo obsesssion.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the homosexuals and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a homosexual. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak up because I was a protestant. Then they came for me--but by that time there was no one left to speak up."

By subclasses, do you mean "kits"? There's no kits in 3rd edition (IWD2) exactly.. but you can multiclass a lot easier than in 2nd edition (BGII) and sort of make your own kits. What kit in particular did you want?

There are no sub classes per se, but as a paladin or cleric, you get to choose a faith. And this will affect how you can go about multiclassing your character in certain situations. A paladin can't just multiclass to another class and still be able to gain levels as a paladin unless it is related to his faith.

Most of the variaety comes form the sub-races, and the fact that under the new rules, you don't really need kits...as you can pretty much build you character the way you want wil skills and feats :)

There are race-related sub-classes, which in effect are kits, for many of the races.
