Looking cool

Post by serjeLeBlade »

So, what's the best looking avatar tou managed to pull off for a pc? Including armor/robes, equipment and all?

I'm noticing that I always end up playing some sort of double wielding halfelf with a cleric avatar...
(Or some pretty human girl, with a cleric avatar again)

I would like to try something different... but I find human male avatar very disappointing... no matter what you put on them, they all look a little ridiculous to me... like there are no muscular humans or slender humans in all the realms!

The nicer thing I ever seen, imho, was Viconia wearing the Jester chain, the Shield of the Lost, and wielding the Flail of the ages... her dark skin amidst all that shimmering colors :)

Some equipment can *really* change the looks and colors of a character, some other doesn't. Who knows why.
I'm missing the shining armors of BG1 (yes I know, the matter have been addressed before)...

So, what's your favourite outfit?

(Also, does anybody know of a way of editing avatars? Heh I know it's hard... but is it possible at least?)
Where we came from, we don't know
Where we're going.... (even worse)
And about who we could be, we actually have trouble in clearly defining the term "to be" in the first place...

I always thought the Shadow Thieves looked pretty styling. Image

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

An elf wearing bladesingerschain is a stylish thing IMO. I agree on Viconias avatar.
It is a shame that the half-orc isn't the big brute he is supposed to be... atleast on paper.
You can't handle the truth!

Don't know about editing, but you can change your avatar in Shadow Keeper.

Yeah, that bothers me too. :(

I've never been satisfied with the color choices I could set in that engine. Most of my parties in those games--BG, IWD, PS:T--have come out generally looking the same, even after I chose color patterns that were unique for each party member: all blue, all green, all red, etc. I don't mean that their flesh color overrode everything else, but that the color choices for armor and clothing never seemed to "take" very well. And that goes for three separate computers, using three different cards.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

My swashbuckler, who had a black major/red minor color theme, looks particularly awesome wearing the black dragon scale.

I like the drow ones, not just elves with black skin, but the ones like Solaufein and Phaere in Ust Natha. I really wish there was a way without shadowkeeper to change Sola's appearance back to the original in the Mod...
My mind is like concrete; mixed up and permanentally set

I think this is really the goal of us all while playing..
The best possible look! :)

Too many combinations I fear... I still love the un-armored, "un-helmeted" look..
But I'd also like to know if it's possible to have Imoen with the hooded look,
without a leather armor, which disables spells..

The easy way: with cheats enabled, select Imoen, then hit CTRL-1.
It cycles through all "armor levels" for the selected avatar (but has no real effect on armor class or spellcasting).

It is not permanent, though (lasts for the game session).
If you want it permanent, open sk and select "human female thief" for Imoen's avatar.
(Her current one is "human female thief low" IIRC)

I'm not sure I listed everything you have to do, but something similar worked for me. I will check back the details if needed...
Good luck ;)

@Daragen: I agree that it would be very nice if Sola could use his avatar! But alas, I think it wouldn't be possible even *using* shadow keeper... he would end up with weapons floating by him :(

@User: the day I'll need to cheat, you'll be my first mentor, stay assured!! :D
The point is, I don't want to alter the use of leather armors, I only
want the coolest look in the main screen :)
Thanx for your complete answer anyway!

@Serje: thanx, I'll try that then! :)
I'll also try Viconia with Jester Chain! though armored drows really look like
caterpillars.. :p

I thought the Jester was a Bard-only armor, but I'll try.
Also, you can use SK to edit the skincolor of your character and make it look better on some armors..

Jester chain and Ankhneg (sp?.... ahh, the insect one) Plate are actually the best non-drow armors available for Viconia if you're not planning to enhance her strenght, because they are so *light* and have little strenght requirements.

(So, it would even make sense to use the 20 mithril tokens to get the jester's chain for her... if only you were not going to get the best mondo armor from the underdark right away by then!)

... which would be a very neat trick if only it worked
I was *not* recalling correctly...
The trick works well to have Imoen display, say, Archmage's Robes, but no luck with the hooded thief avatar.
I don't know why, it goes away.
You have to hit CTRL-1 at the start of every game... hope you can bear with it ;)
Sorry, @Littiz! :(

... *or* you can wait until I figure out what that "something similar" exactly was...
