Choose what kind of help you would like more...

1) A link to complete guide (walkthrough) on how to romance successfully Aerie, Anomen, Jaheira and Viconia?
2) A link to a Mod that will provide you with a nice, sensible sorcerer that will romance you almost automatically as soon as you ask him to join your party? (If your pc is a "she", I mean)
3) Just some hint on how to make your favourite npc love you? (Choose one... note that *not* all npc are interested in romance)
4) A list of the romanceable npcs?

Tell me...
Where we came from, we don't know
Where we're going.... (even worse)
And about who we could be, we actually have trouble in clearly defining the term "to be" in the first place...

Pretty hard. For starters, she likes *good* people (you can evince it by her alignment, right? Right) ;)
Second, she likes people who listen to what she says. ALL of what she says. (And then, obviously, act accordingly)

So... (spoilers)

First, no romance until you actually choose to side with the shadow thieves. You *have* to accept Galen Bayle's offer, and then her romance could start. (No alliances with the undead, sorry)

The first "romance" dialogue starts with the (famous) words "so where to now, our brave leader...?" ...(ever seen it?)

Second, *never* tell her to shut up or even to wait another moment to discuss something. This usually ends the romance.

Third, *never* kick her out of the party.
(But you have to allow her to go away every thime *she* wants to... for her harper's missions... or go with her wherever she asks you to go. Pretty fair, isn't it?) ;)

Have you done all of these things?
What race/class/alignment was your pc?
Ask me some more specific questions if you want....
(Anyway, you may want to use that walkthrough... it really helps)

Doesn't she prefer neutral types, per her druidic convictions? I seem to recall her endless complaints when my PC got too "good" in one of my games.

Are you serious? I was running on reputation 20 for the best time of the game in which I romanced Jaheira and I never recall to have heard her complain! (Do you remember what she said exactly?)

Anyway, some of her romance choices are based on your reputation. *High* reputation.... "so-so" reputation doesn't make the trick.

Can you add more detail about what happened in your game?

(I was joking on the fact that, despite of her listed Neutral alignment, Jaheira usually behaves in the way tipical to Good if not Lawful Good npcs... like leaving party if you attack Drizzt, to say one)

?????????????

you have to be male, elf, half elf, human....

check with sk that "jahieramatch" is equal to 1...

after emerging from the irenicus dungeon, go to the docks, and pop into the sea's bounty to trigger the jahiera curse quest....

after killing ployer, go to the vendor next to the temple of ogma and buy her a locket....

the next part of the romance will happen when you head out of athlanka, you should soon get the poisoned harper quest.....

none of the npc romances, including kelsey and sola are effected by accepting bodhi's offer...tho keldy will leave if you do...

Sorry, that's from Dan Simpson's walkthrough
Do you think it's wrong?
I guess you can go to Galen Bayle's house, kind of agree with his offer, and then switch sides when Valen approaches you... it could work... never tried anyway.

But I'm pretty sure you can't have any lovetalks with Jaheira *before* you talk with Galen.
Would you say I'm wrong?
Oh well, maybe.
(Can you prove it?) ;)

sorry buddy, youre right, you do have to accept galyen vales initial offer to get the quest...

but yes, i have switched sides at end of chapter 3 and still had the romance work, i think...been playing with mods too long...

"You *have* to accept Galen Bayle's offer, and then her romance could start. (No alliances with the undead, sorry) " "

actually, to move beyond chapter one, you have to accept his offer to want the help of the shadow thieves and joining the undead is simply not an option given to you until you get 15000 gold...

Ok, ok, we're tuned ;)

This is what I was trying to say:

(from Extremist's romancing guide... Not Dan Simpson's)
Boys has been a long day...

"JAHEIRA:
This romance starts in two ways:
1. When you accept Gaelan Bayle’s proposal to gather 20.000 gp and exit his home.
2. When you don’t accepted Bayle’s proposal, but eventually pay him the price anyway – and exit his home.
If you wanted to get the Jaheira romance and also to work for Bodhi but not for Gaelan Bayle, don’t sweat, accept Gaelan’s proposal and later just betray him when Bodhi sends her messenger to get you."

Jaheira prefers people who act good. All she does all game is recommend rep-boosting actions.

Anyway, some of her romance choices are based on your reputation. *High* reputation.... "so-so" reputation doesn't make the trick.
Jaheira is a strange character, in some respects. Based on her personality and her philosophy of life, her alignment should be Good and her Charisma should definitely be less than 15. I think the best way to explain those anomalies is to look at the requirements for being a Druid. In other words, the only reason she's True Neutral and has CHA 15 is because being a Druid requires it. Otherwise, in my opinion, her alignment should be Neutral Good and her Charisma should be about 8 or 9. (Higher than Minsc's? No way.) Frankly, I don't know why Druids are supposed to have high Charisma in the first place. When have you ever seen a charismatic Druid? :)

I'm sure that some people will disagree with me about Jaheira's "true" alignment, but consider this. When she's happy, you can hear her say things like, "Our actions are good. We serve the greater balance." If her alignment isn't "good", then why doesn't "balance" by itself suffice? Why does she talk about "goodness" and act like she cares about it at all?

And as jcompton points out, Jaheira always recommends rep-boosting actions, which is odd for a Neutral character who doesn't want your Reputation to become too high.

Jaheira likes your character more and trusts him more if his reputation is higher than 14. But she does in fact complain if your reputation reaches 19 or 20. I can't remember exactly what she says, but it's something like: "We must maintain balance." It's not particularly harsh, but it's definitely a complaint.

Again, it's very odd to hear her say, for example, that we should turn over Neb's head to the authorities, which results in a Reputation increase of 1, and then hear her complain that we should strive for balance". I guess she means, "Let's execute Neb the child-killer, and then let's get caught shoplifting to preserve the greater balance." Very weird. :)

Ah! ...It was that!
Thank you VonDondu, I finally understand!
I remember her saying *that* when we were on 20 rep.
(I just didn't take it as a "complaint" at all by then)

LOL :D
I agree wholeheartedly! (does this word exist?)
Yes, that's exactly the way Jaherira is...
Or the way I "preceive" her, anyway.
(I wonder if Azmodan is still willing to romance her now...? Or if we'd been of any help so far, which I seriously doubt... ) :p

*lol* @ you guys..... i think i'll have to give up Jahiera!... i guess i'll have to do it loveless, like the last time! :D

"JAHEIRA:

you see this is where i go wrong!. i did take Gaelan's proposal, and i didn't betray him. and i told Bohdi to go suck somebody else!!

i guess, i'll never get a hold on Jahiera! *pout*

maby im not the big lover!! *lol*

Ahem... only that.... the way you did it *should* have worked instead
Read more carefully!
You don't *have* to betray Galen... you just "can" do it...
But as long as yo've accepted his offer, the romance should have started!
(Assuming you were not romancing someone else already, and that you didn't get Jaheira upset for some other reason before, and all...)

I think the best way to explain the alignment restriction for the Harper Pin is to look at Jaheira's alignment. Since Jaheira is the one who is supposed to wear it, that's why it can be worn by a True Neutral character. Citing the Harper Pin to prove that Jaheira is supposed to be Neutral would merely beg the question since the item follows her alignment, not vice-versa. :)

Back on topic: Frankly, I don't know what Gaelan Bayle has to do with Jaheira's romance. As far as I know, the only requirements for the romance are: PC is male; PC is human, elf, or half-elf; the global variables are set correctly (CheckJaheiraRomance=1 and JaheiraRomance=1); Jaheira is in your party; and (I'm just guessing) you weren't rude to her when she asked you to let her out of her cell in Irenicus's dungeon (which she says she won't forget).

The first dialogue in the Jaheira romance should occur in front of the Copper Coronet, right after Brus takes you out of Gaelan Bayle's house. She says, "Where to now, fearless leader?" When you reply, she insults you (no matter what you say), then she apologizes and says she will try to be more civil. After all the verbal abuse we had to put up with in BG1, this obviously marks a turning point in the relationship. :)

If you strike out with Jaheira, you could always try Viconia or Aerie. Or you could even set a few global variables and make it with Anomen. :) Starting romances is supposed to be easy; keeping them going (and dealing with bugs that occasionally pop up) is what takes a lot of work.

I'll let others judge for themselves. :)

As for fictional characters, the women in BG2 follow a formula that requires patience and commitment on your part. How else can they seem selective enough to make you feel special? If that makes them "weird", so be it.

Aerie requires a lot of patience. First of all, if you want her to become dependent on you, which is what most relationships are all about, then you have to be prepared to help her deal with her personal demons. In her case, she has suffered more terribly than most people can even imagine. She doesn't even think she's an elf anymore. If you can't help her deal with her crisis, then you're not the right, uh, man for her.

Second of all, Aerie has never been in a relationship before, so she wants to take things slowly at first, and she might even seem fickle. (But not as fickle as Jaheira and Viconia!) I still remember what it was like to be young and clueless, and what it was like to be a nervous virgin. It takes time to grow up. If you can't wait for Aerie to feel comfortable with you, then you're not the right, uh, man for her. :)

Aerie transforms into a complete sex kitten in the BG2 expansion, Throne of Bhaal. If you stay with her and help her build up her confidence and earn her trust, you'll be rewarded. All in all, that seems pretty realistic to me. If we're lucky, it might teach a lesson about young women to some of the guys out there. :)
