The best thing to do in this game is to check out the in-game descriptions of the classes and pick one that appeals to you. I myself prefer one that has a ranged weapon as a minor or major skill. These classes are very flexible - you can work on any ability you wish (I definitely recommend improving your mysticism skills for soul-trapping purposes.)

As for what race - each race has a range of classes it is better suited to, but once again, it's a matter of personal preference.
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

As far as race, my suggestion is to take, simply, whichever one appeals to you.

Class, I recommend creating a custom class based around whatever skills you expect to focus on.

Cheats, I recommend avoiding for at least the first play through.

Mods are something you'll have to decide based on your own preferences. Some are extremely useful (Real Signposts, for example) but you'll have to decide on a mod-by-mod basis what you'd like to include.

I've played around with at least 15 combos and I want to know what you have played and liked.

What @Cjdevito said. Devise a mix of skills that will suit you, then do whatever you want. Remember, the game can be fun for more than a hundred hours easily without even attempting the main plot, just developing your character and investigating the countryside.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
