Sneakiness

Post by Fairmaiden »

I'm trying to improve my sneak skill by sneaking a lot around people, especially in shops.

I've been able to steal a few things and the sneak icon comes on regularly BUT my ability isn't improving. When I look at my ability stats, the the percentage out of a hundred figure hasn't changed.

What am I doing wrong?

Also, SPOILER alert: No-one at the Thieves Guild in Balmora will spill the beans about exactly which individuals at the Council Club are the "Bad People" I'm meant to be taking out.

I've admired and bribed them but they say they know nothing!

Check out the inn in Pelegiad.

Thanks - I'll go there right now.

In fact I've been there a few times coz there's a fellow in there called Nils Lendo who once asked me for a kiss!

I always expect he'll say something further when I see him in the inn in Pelegiad but he hasn't so far.

Looks like I'll have to taunt them all when my taunt ability has improved!

It's weird - I'm a Thieves Guild member but they still won't give me information in Balmora or Pelegiad, even when I've bribed dispositions up to 100. They just say they don't know what I'm talking about.

I hope my game's not buggy...

Strange. There is a Kajit (that's the cat-like race, right?) in the inn at Pelegiad who should ask you help her with problem she's having; after completing the quest, she should then share the info about the "bad people" with you, her new good friend.

At least, this is how it worked for me the first time through. (I had also joined the Thieve's Guild in Balmora, like you, to try to get the info and nobody would tell me, either. Then this Kajit said she'd help me if I helped her.)

My taunt skills were also not high enough to trigger an attack. Just kill them all. Then run to the fort - you should be able to run past the soldiers in the courtyard, get inside and down to the Commander without getting caught and he, of course, will "fix" your legal problem.

Strangely enough, my second time through, I didn't join the Thieve's Guild and when I was in Pelegiad and asked this Kajit about the "bad people", she promptly told me who they were, didn't ask me for help or anything. In this instance, my Personality was at least 80 (and I may have been wearing the Mask of Clavicus(?) that boosted it another 40 pts., can't remember) but, other than this, I can't explain it. Go figure.

I've got a ring in my inventory :D ... even a couple in fact :D ... do not remeber exact numbers, but it frenzies a humanoid for quite a short period (less than 10, IIRC) but for fairly large amount (30-40, i believe) :D As soon as a target is taunted somewhat bellow zero and taunts tend to fail often enough i use them ;) They stack, you know, even if cast from one, from both even more. It's really hard to get them excited without that even at spechcraft 42
Then, speaking about the three at the bar, IMHO the one further from the entrance is more susceptive. Anyway, all three will rush on you as soon as any one gets angry enough

As for thieves keeping their mouths shut - it happened to me once. Fortunately i came there stright enough from the fort and had a save just before i had got the quest. I reloaded and checked all options available with Varro (or whatever is his name). Something of it set all in right places for me, thieves became talkative again.
