BG I am messed up ??? (spoilers near end of game dont look ok :)

Post by mike farrier »

OK I have played all the way through balders gate.
and i am wondering.
I killed those two baddies in the undercellar before i went and got entar (duke whatever) out of the flaming fist compound.
all the while dodging the flaming fist soldiers in town.
(man my party got good at running.)
anyways I go through everything else and go to the ducal palace and see sarevok and several of the dukes.
then the 5 or 6 gr. dopplegangers pop out as i fight them sarevok tells me i failed and bam i died.
I tried prot from magic and invulnerbility etc.
nothing i just die.
did i fail to do something.
i looked all over but no one is talking.
i do have the invitations and the diary and a letter proving sarevoks evil intentions but the dukes never let me speak my peace. ????

Help me please.

I'm not sure what the problem is, but one thing does come to mind. You're supposed to protect the dukes (there are only two of them left) and prevent the doppelgangers from killing them. At least one duke must survive so that you can show him or her the evidence against Sarevok. Otherwise, you won't be able to prove your own innocence and stop Sarevok.

I just checked the dialogue files, and I have confirmed that if you allow the doppelgangers to kill both dukes (Liia and Belt), Sarevok will exclaim, "The Grand Dukes are dead, killed by assassins in our midst. Look there! The killers accused of murdering the leaders of the Iron Throne! They must be part of the plot. I don't want them alive! Kill them! You have FAILED, [MAIN CHARACTER]!" Then Angelo and a bunch of Flaming Fist Enforcers appear, and the game automatically ends.

It sounds like the doppelgangers killed both of the dukes, and that's why the game ended. It's not a bug. Reload and try again. If Liia or Belt survive the attack, you're on your way to winning the game.

There's always Safana! Man-o-man, I never forgave Bioware for bringing about her untimely demise in BG2...

I hope your description of the women in Baldur's Gate hasn't spoiled anything for anybody who hasn't play Shadows of Amn.

But on the subject of the female NPCs, it seems like out of ten, there'd be at least one of them you might like. I was particularly fond of Imoen and Dynaheir.

If I'd had any idea what was coming in Shadows of Amn, I might have felt differently about some of the characters in BG1 (especially Jaheira, Viconia, Safana, and Faldorn). But if you're going to use the new information about the characters you gained in Shadows of Amn and Throne of Bhaal to evaluate the NPCs in BG1, then you could say that Tamoko was right about Sarevok, after all, and she wasn't such a fool.

@Locke Da'averan: Safana's the thief in the lighthouse area. She asks you to help her loot the flesh golem cave.

@ Locke Da'averan, *spoil* she is in one of the forestareas you get after getting up from the UNderdark. She is there with Coran, and some wearwolves.
Blah... nothing for me... :)

This is in BG1, in BG2 just follow Vintersorg's advice.....
"Those who control the past control the future, those who control the present control the past" And I rule the PRESENT!!
I put the 'laughter' back in 'slaughter'
