Trials of the luremaster?
Trials of the luremaster?
I was reading through my manual when on page 29/30 I see a History of Icewind dale where it tells me that I seem to have completely missed an expansion pack called Trials of the Luremaster?! When was this out?! Have I been comatosed for the last year or something? Has anyone played it? I'm assuming it's good?
The only thing better than a dead kobold is a dying kobold that tells you where to find is mates.

Trials of the Luremaster is a free, downloadable (72MB) expansion for (read: required) Heart of Winter, which is an expansion to the original Icewind Dale game (this is the IwD II forum, after all
).
IIRC, TotL was released after players complained about the "abbreviated" length of HoW. The TotL expansion is accessed from Lonelywood, the village that HoW took place in and around. When TotL is completed, the player returns to Lonelywood to continue HoW. TotL includes several dungeon and castle levels for players to explore. There are many new items to find, and some new creatures to encounter as well. There is also an intersting storyline supplied to tie TotL together, however TotL's story does not tie into the IwD or HoW storylines at all (Does anyone really care?).
The final verdict: If you have IwD and HoW, why pass up a free expansion? This is as close to a "classic" dungeon crawl as IwD gets, and is well worth the time it takes to download.
Try the Icewind Dale forum for further discussion.
Interplay's Icewind Dale site has more information about IwD and both of it's expansions.
Planet Baldur's Gate hosts the 72MB download.
