Saving throws?!?!?!

Post by Detrius »

Will someone please please explain to me how saving throws for your characters are worked out because for the life of me I can't figure it out!

Here's a few examples.

My Lv1 Sorceress S6 D18 C14 I10 W12 Ch20
Fortitude +0
Reflex +0
Will +2

Shouldn't this be
Fortitude +2 (because of the +2 bonus for constitution)
Reflex +4 (because of dexterity) and
Will +1 (because of wisdom)
??????

Also
My Lv1 Paladin S18 D13 C18 In4 W13 Ch14 With Iron Will feat
Fortitude +2
Reflex +0
Will +2

Shouldn't this be
F +6 ( +4 for Con and +2 "Divine Grace" from Charisma)
R +3 ( +1 from Dex and +2 from Charisma) and
W +5 (+1 from Wis +2 from Charisma and +2 from Iron Will)

I really need help here!

Well it seems lots of people have read this but no-one has replied! Even a reply saying "sorry don't know either" would help convince me I'm not just being stupid - anyone? please!?

"sorry don't know either"

I know thats not what you want to hear, but I really don't know. Perhaps there is some manner of penalty in place as well, or some racial modifier. Maybe someone who is familiar with PNP 3rd Ed. D&D can shed some light on this.

Cheers,
Atleast I know it's just not me now!
Is the same thing true of your characters saving throws?
It's just that normally I put my wisdom up because of the saving throw bonus to Will saves - but if I'm not going to get it anyway I'll not bother and put the points into something else.

It's not very often that folks here don't have an answer to a question :)

I was wondering though, have you tried asking this at the Interplay Icewind Dale 2 forums? The developers and community there are generally helpful and it might be worth your while to pm someone or post there.

I don;t know off hand. I don't play IwD II very much ATM, so I'll have to dig it out and let you know later. Keep us posted on any findings at Iterplay's forums. I don't think anyone meant to ignore your question, I just think no one really knows the answer.

Well I ignored it for a while and carried on playing with my party for a bit. As soon as they went up to level 2 all their saving throws adjusted to what I thought they should be! - weird.
Seems like you just don't get them at level one?!
