Kelsey's alternate image sets

Post by fable »

I've never used the alternate images for Kelsey. Now that I'm running him again, I'm curious what they look like, and I'd rather not have to rerun the executable and go through all the unzipping and expanding, just to get a view. Can anyone post the images? In advance, thanks.

Thanks. Has more colors than the first set--I think I'll switch. :)

On Jason's behalf, you are welcome. :) It's actually his self-portrait, which I think it's really well done. I have read somewhere he doesn't dress like that in real life, so...

Speaking of more colours, members of his forum were also going on a bit about Kelsey's eyecolour! Go figure. :D

I suspect he throws very few magic missiles in reallife, too. The police frown on those sort of things.

You don`t have to run the executable again. The first time you installed it, a folder called Kelsey (or Kelsey ToB) was created inside your BGII folder. You can search that folder for the alternate portraits. There`s also a hooded Kelsey one, which I prefer over the others and use it in my game.

Didn't find any hooded Kelsey in the portraits subdirectory of Kelsey; just two rather similar sets of Kelsey images.

Hi Leonardo:

Couldn't find any hooded Kelsey portrait in my folder too. Could you please attach the .jpg file for us?

Oh, geez. The pic BG Fan posted is an "outtake" from the Kelsey photo session that I refer to as "Kelsey DeNiro." Why I was sneering, I have no idea, but the pose reminds me of what would happen if DeNiro read for the role. But I digress. :)

If you have Kelsey-TOB installed, there are indeed three portrait sets available: all you need to do is run Setup-KelseyTOB.exe and page through the options. The default portrait set is by Wynne Lurty (who also put the background behind Kelsey DeNiro there.) The alternate portrait sets are from Karse Soze (including the hooded one that people seem to really dig.)

Kelsey-SOA 1.5 comes with just the standard Wynne set and the non-hooded Karse Soze set. I WOULD have put all three in but because of the way WeiDU's front-end is working these days, it wasn't quite possible to put in the options I wanted. Long explanation. :)

We should put up a picture gallery at some point, make it easier to navigate these sets...

Anyway, I've attached the two Karsten portraits to give you an idea.

That explains why repeated expansion only showed two sets. :D

I rather prefer the hooded one, too. :)

If you have the SOA-1.0.4 patch, you can find the sets zipped up in there. Hooded Kelsey would be #2.

Already have 1.05 installed, though I suppose I could download and unzip just the portraits of 1.04. Why was the set eliminated from 1.05?

In retrospect I could/should have just thrown the .zip file in and pointed people to it in the README, and will likely do that for 1.6 if I can't get this issue fixed:

In recent versions of WeiDU, if a mod has more than 4 components, there's a front-end menu that says "Do you want to install everything in this mod?" This is very good for things like Tactics.

But for something where options are mutually exclusive (multiple portrait sets) or potentially would annoy the player (making Kelsey "aware" of the Solaufein romance) I don't want there to be a front-end that people would knee-jerk "Y" to.

@Jason

Just a suggestion, it will be good if you could put up the portraits for download on your site. That way, you might generate more interest in the character and maybe a few more threads in the forum. ;)
