Question for CRPG experts
Question for CRPG experts
I am starting to get bored with BGII (I've played it a bazillion times). I've enjoyed other Black Isle/Bioware D&D games like BG, PST and IWD. Are there any other good RPGs you all would recommend?

i'd recommend person and persona 2, xenogears, and final fantasy tactics. all have great stories and wonderful game play. i clocked in over 70 hours in each game.

One excellent CRPG that's gotten very little attention is King of Dragon Pass. It's a strange hybrid, a turn-based RPG/resource-allocation first-person ruling simulation. (takes a long breath) Set on Glorantha (in the RuneQuest series), you must deal with all sorts of aspects of running a tribe--choosing which gods to worship, which spells to learn, where to send scouts, which fortifications to build, which other tribes to trade with or war upon, spell-quested journeys to travel, and how to interact with 600+ plots, large and small, that mainly occur at random through your rule.
It's totally unlike any game I've seen since KOEI stopped making its excellent PC-based mytical/historical Japanese and Chinese games about 6 years ago. You can check KODP out at www.a-sharp.com.

To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

It depends on what you are looking for there are a slew of older rpgs out thereand though the graphics on most are dated the gameplay is still topnotch.
off the top off my head
Ultima VII - still clean looking and very playable although you will need a slowdown aplication like moSlow (i still can't believe there are no generic characters in this game- except may be town guards, every one else is an indavidual)
I also Loved Ultima IV but i'm notsure how it would pass the test of time without the nostalaga factor.
UW1 and UW2 alsogreat games
Origin wahat happened to you!!
system shock is perhaps my favourite game of all time
arena and Daggerfall were also fun. (great char generation system)
If you like turn based games Check out Siderweb games spiderweb games hompage
they have demos for most of their games available for download.
actualy there are hundred of old games out there (many on my computer still - i only justupgraded my system and bought BG1 and 2)
spend a bit of time on the net and you will find a wealth of games.
