High light for spoiler.....
You get the amulet of power from the head of the shadow theives (forgot his name....), this is really an item that you should not miss, or rather cannot miss if u play the game, unless of course you play as an evil char and pladge allegence with bodi..... another way that works great is to get sunfire and then cast improved invisibilty and then stand next to any vampire u are trying to kill..... get the picture :p :D I always loved blasting vampires with sunfire.....

The upgraded mace of disruption also gives immunity to level drain. What I do is to give the amulet of power and the mace to two of my best fighters, send them to the vampires' lair and beholders' hive and watch the show. :)

Of course, sunfires will do nicely too.

Cheers

Level drain protection.

Don't forget about the scrolls of protection -vs- undead. Those things will stop all undead in ther tracks. Even liches will stand there and do nothing. You can find about 8 throughout the game, first availble ones are in Waukeens Promanade from shop by circus tent and the 2 scroll sellers. Temples sometimes sell them as well.

Also if you cast them from a Simulcrum or Project image you can make 1 scroll last forever. :)

The problem with using the scrolls is that some of the vampires need to talk to you or the plot will not advance.

Spoiler:

Also, you can get the amulet if you side with Bodhi because you have to kill Aran as your last assignment.

gara, have you tried mislead????

its the true wonderspell, much better than any other spell, including impr inv....

use mislead, and keep clone out of sight, and you cannot be true sighted....

due to shutter effect, many monsters will NOT attack after you cast a spell in mislead or attack....

lasts longer than impr inv...

only mass inv is better, due to party effect, and mass inv lasts LONGER at higher levels, so a sorc especially should never, ever get imp inv, only mislead and mass inv....

speaking of which, where exactly do I find a mislead spell? Walkthrough at gamefaqs says I can find it in a pot in catacombs under graveyard, but when I looked there, there was only a necklace. Any ideas people?

Agreed. :) With ToB installed, you get all the neat scroll cases and bags of holding. They come in handy. :D

You could probably give it to Jaheira as a Special Ability using Shadow Keeper. Or you could give it to yourself, of course, but it seems more appropriate to give her the healing spell. Plus I'm not sure what would happen to it after Spellhold when you lose your Bhaalspawn abilities.

gosh, i always had it, some of the stores sell them, try out the tent in trade meet near the gennies, and worst comes to absolute worst, my apprentices in the planar sphere made them...just hit all the vendors, prominade, copper coronet and trademeet, and you should run across one...

its simply not a spell i ever had problems finding, sorry...
