Just Installed- What Do I Need?
Just Installed- What Do I Need?
Greetings!
I'm new here, because I only just bought the game today. I've played most of the others in the "series" so know what to expect (ish).
I've just installed the game, and patched to v2.01, but what I want to know is: There's bound to be a whole load of add-on files that will further improve the game for me, so which ones do you recommend before I start? I havent even run the game once yet- want it to be GREAT first time round!
Thanks

I agree - play the game first - IWD II is still fairly new and modifications to the game may be forthcoming - If you read other forums you will note that Baldurs Gate II has numerous modifications - but these have taken years to develop and are really only for folks who have played through the game a few times and want a different challenge.
Have a good time.

Seems I am running later here, BUT!; You could always install the Undead Targos mod, which is quite excellent, done by the greatest of IE mod makers Wesley Weimer. It makes Targos more of a challenge, and also skips some of the "learn to walk, talk, read and write" elements.
At the same site is also the ease-of-use, which I can only recommend (infinite arrow, potion et.c. stacking) and the bonus merchant (Ribald Barteman from BG2).
All three located here.

Icewind Gate II Improved engine, third edition rules and the full BG2 storyline.
If you ever fall off the Sears Tower, just go real limp, because maybe you'll look like a dummy and people will try to catch you because, hey, free dummy.
Love is a perky elf dancing a merry little jig and then suddenly he turns on you with a miniature machine gun.

AHA!
See, I knew somebody would find something to recommend!
Thanks, Jaesha- I've just had a look at the Ease-of-use mod, and installed several components to hopefully make gameplay better- Looks promising.
And yes, I'll look for the no-cd patch, simply because I'm lazy at pushing the tiny button, waiting for the tray to slide out, finding the right disc, putting it in, pushing the tiny button again, waiting for... ... ...
Thanks.
BTW played for a couple hours now- I cant help it: I just LOVE creating parties!

LOL, it took me almost two days of my life to get out.
Simply no exit from a certain loop. After reloading and replaying half of Dragon's Eye (including re-visiting a certain grave to re-gain a certain item) I imagined that my motto "kill anything that moves and looks slightly like a monster" was too stereotypical even for IWD.
